Brown is extremely unpopular in the state. On Friday, Drazan\u2019s campaign <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=63hyP_16JrQ\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">released<\/a> a new ad pointing out that Kotek voted with Brown \u201c99% of the time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The legacy media is now reporting on the close nature of the race, and Drazan\u2019s potential win, all while still pointing to \u201calt-right\u201d reasons.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Vox recently <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vox.com\/policy-and-politics\/2022\/10\/27\/23409630\/oregon-governor-drazan-kotek-climate\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a> that \u201cRepublicans just might eke out a victory\u201d in the Oregon gubernatorial election this season due to various factors. The article points to \u201calt-right extremists\u201d who are a part of the Oregonian electorate, as well as a recent $1 million donation from Nike co-founder Phil Knight to Drazan\u2019s campaign. The outlet discussed climate concerns of a Drazan victory, but Drazan is not against conservation.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Last month, she <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/qa-with-gop-oregon-gubernatorial-candidate-christine-drazan\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">told<\/a> The Daily Wire, \u201cOregon has an ethic of conservation. It\u2019s just built into our DNA, as Oregonians, we love living in one of the most beautiful places on Earth. Oregon\u2019s commitment to clean air and water and sound use of our lands has really marked our state for generations.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cWe need to enter into an era of all options need to be on the table. We can\u2019t abandon natural gas. We need to continue to allow innovation to develop renewable natural gas and for that to be something that is more prevalent in the marketplace,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The Guardian <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/us-news\/2022\/oct\/27\/oregon-governor-race-spoiler-betsy-johnson\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a> that \u201ca Republican could win the governor\u2019s seat in\u00a0Oregon\u201d for the first time in over four decades. The outlet pointed to Brown\u2019s wildly low approval ratings, with a Morning Consult poll showing Brown <a href=\"https:\/\/morningconsult.com\/2022\/10\/11\/whitmers-approval-ticks-up-in-michigan-ahead-of-midterms\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">receiving<\/a> the lowest approval numbers of any governor.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Earlier this month, CNN <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2022\/10\/17\/politics\/governor-races-democrats-republicans-midterm-elections\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">included<\/a> Oregon in its list of states where \u201c[d]emocrats are facing stiff battles for governor.\u201d The outlet largely blamed Johnson for the close race since she could attract voters.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The race has even brought high-profile figures such as President Joe Biden and Virginia Governor <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/glenn-youngkin-hits-the-trail-for-oregon-gop-gubernatorial-candidate-christine-drazan\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Glenn Youngkin<\/a> to the state. Youngkin secured a win in last year\u2019s Virginia gubernatorial race largely on the topic of education, which Drazan has also communicated.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Steve Pedery of environmental PAC Oregon Wildlife Conservation Leaders Fund, told Vox that Drazan\u2019s victory could become an example for other Republicans in Democratic states. \u201cIf this works in Oregon, it can be replicated,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">FiveThirtyEight\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/projects.fivethirtyeight.com\/2022-election-forecast\/governor\/oregon\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">forecast<\/a> has Drazan at a 50% chance of winning.
