The report said Musk also fired the company\u2019s general counsel, Sean Edgett, who was escorted out of the building.<\/p>\n<p>Bloomberg News <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2022-10-28\/musk-is-said-to-take-twitter-ceo-role-reverse-life-bans?leadSource=uverify%20wall\">reported<\/a> that Musk plans to get rid of permanent bans of users on the platform \u201cbecause he doesn\u2019t believe in lifelong prohibitions,\u201d which means that some of the people previously banned on the platform \u201cmay be allowed to return.\u201d Musk has previously indicated that he would not allow people on the platform who violate laws.<\/p>\n<p>While some people tweeted at Musk Thursday night urging him to restore former President Donald Trump\u2019s account, the former president has already stated numerous times that he will not return to the platform.<\/p>\n<p>Musk tweeted late Thursday night, \u201cThe bird is freed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">the bird is freed<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Elon Musk (@elonmusk) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/elonmusk\/status\/1585841080431321088?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">October 28, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">the bird is freed<\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Elon Musk (@elonmusk) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/elonmusk\/status\/1585841080431321088?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">October 28, 2022<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Bloomberg News <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2022-10-27\/tesla-engineers-visit-twitter-office-to-review-code-for-musk?utm_campaign=socialflow-organic&amp;utm_medium=social&amp;utm_source=twitter&amp;utm_content=business&amp;cmpid=socialflow-twitter-business\">reported<\/a> separately that Musk instructed Tesla engineers to gain control of the company\u2019s code \u201cso they could assess and explain to Musk what the company needs.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The move means that Twitter\u2019s engineers were no longer able to make any changes to the code as part of \u201can effort to ensure that nothing about the product changes ahead of the deal closing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Musk released a statement earlier on Thursday to advertisers explaining why he wanted to buy Twitter and ensuring them that they do not have to worry about Twitter becoming a \u201cfree-for-all hellscape.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI wanted to reach out personally to share my motivation in acquiring Twitter,\u201d Musk wrote. \u201cThere has been much speculation about why I bought Twitter and what I think about advertising. Most of it has been wrong.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe reason I acquired Twitter is because it is important to the future of civilization to have a common digital town square, where a wide range of beliefs can be debated in a healthy manner, without resorting to violence,\u201d Musk continued. \u201cThere is currently great danger that social media will splinter into far right wing and far left wing echo chambers that generate more hate and divide our society.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn the relentless pursuit of clicks, much of traditional media has fueled and catered to those polarized extremes, as they believe that is what brings in the money, but, in doing so, the opportunity for dialogue is lost,\u201d Musk continued. \u201cThat is why I bought Twitter. I didn\u2019t do it because it would be easy. I didn\u2019t do it to make more money. I did it to try to help humanity, whom I love.
