To date, the RNC has recruited <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2022\/10\/26\/exclusive-rnc-recruits-more-70k-poll-watchers-workers-ahead-midterms\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">more than 70,000<\/a> new poll watchers and workers ahead of Election Day to \u201chelp deliver the election transparency that voters deserve.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Despite the completely legitimate and legal nature of Americans supervising election administration, Democrats masquerading as journalists have cast Republicans\u2019 efforts as a massive voter intimidation campaign by 2020 \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/08\/22\/the-election-denier-smear-is-the-dumbest-rhetorical-device-in-modern-politics\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">election deniers<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.axios.com\/2022\/10\/26\/cities-midterms-elections-interference-militias-mayors-police-poll-extremists\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">article<\/a> published Wednesday titled, \u201cExtremist groups are going local to disrupt the midterms,\u201d Axios correspondent Jennifer Kingson hyperventilates about groups such as the Proud Boys and Oath Keepers signing up to be poll workers and \u201cdrop-box watchers\u201d in order to \u201csway the upcoming midterms in favor of their preferred candidates.\u201d Throughout her diatribe, Kingson tries to make the intimidation of election workers by fringe, right-wing organizations seem like a widespread problem plaguing the entire country, writing that \u201c[e]lection offices are installing bulletproof glass\u201d and \u201cbulking up on security and conducting active-shooter trainings\u201d ahead of the November midterms.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRising threats are prompting a\u00a0shortage\u00a0of election workers \u2014 which extremists could use to their advantage,\u201d she writes.<\/p>\n<p>But Kingson isn\u2019t the only journo espousing such hysteria. In a recently published Time Magazine article titled, \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/time.com\/6223820\/poll-watchers-stop-the-steal-2022-midterms\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">How \u2018Stop the Steal\u2019 Became \u2018Watch the Polls,\u2019<\/a>\u201d writer Vera Bergengruen stresses about the \u201ctens of thousands\u201d of Americans who have been recruited to be poll watchers by \u201cright-wing groups\u201d that she says push \u201cfalse claims that the 2020 election was stolen.\u201d As if she were writing the plot to a bad horror film, Bergendruen warns about \u201c[t]hese newly minted poll watchers motivated by election conspiracies\u201d and their top-secret plan to \u201cobserve, record on their phones,\u201d and \u201clet both voters and election workers know that they\u2019re being monitored.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>In other words, she\u2019s worried about conservatives fulfilling the role of your average Election Day poll watcher.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt best, this is likely to disrupt overburdened election offices. At worst, it could lead to further harassment of election workers and deepening distrust in the country\u2019s democratic systems,\u201d she writes melodramatically.<\/p>\n<p>As laughably alarmist as Kingson and Bergengruen\u2019s hot takes are, their hit pieces on GOP poll watchers are just two of the many articles pushed by left-wing outlets over the past several weeks to push a similar narrative.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSome Officials Fear Sabotage From Republican Election Workers,\u201d an Oct. 20 Huffington Post <a href=\"https:\/\/www.huffpost.com\/entry\/election-officials-fear-sabotage-far-right-poll-workers-watchers-midtems_n_6350498fe4b051268c5082ea\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">headline<\/a> reads.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cElection officials brace for confrontational poll watchers,\u201d said The <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/2022-midterm-elections-politics-voting-presidential-biden-cabinet-c3d31b3b3c8957a51a2cc32e009d59be\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Associated Press<\/a> earlier this month.<\/p>\n<p>The leftists at Reuters went the extra mile and conducted an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/world\/us\/exclusive-two-five-us-voters-worry-about-intimidation-polls-reutersipsos-2022-10-26\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\u201cexclusive\u201d poll<\/a> claiming to show that two-fifths of voters are \u201cworried about threats of violence or voter intimidation at polling stations\u201d during the midterms. The publication of the survey is ironic given that in the same write-up of the poll\u2019s findings, Reuters writers Moira Warburton and Jason Lange admit there have been no reports of violence at any ballot drop-off or early-voting location to date.<\/p>\n<p>(For other examples of corporate media hitting the panic button over Republican poll watchers legitimately overseeing the conduction of elections, see <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2022\/10\/17\/us\/politics\/midterm-elections-challenges.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">here<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2022\/08\/02\/rnc-stop-the-steal-advocates-poll-workers-00049109\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">here<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.azmirror.com\/2022\/06\/27\/gop-poll-watcher-training-casts-unfounded-suspicion-on-arizona-elections\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">here<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gpb.org\/news\/2022\/10\/03\/election-officials-brace-for-confrontational-poll-watchers\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">here<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2022\/09\/23\/opinion\/trump-big-lie-elections.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">here<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theatlantic.com\/magazine\/archive\/2022\/11\/midterm-voters-reject-big-lie\/671525\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">here<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2022\/10\/04\/poll-workers-sow-doubt-midterms-00060103\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">here<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/politics\/2022\/10\/25\/pro-trump-republicans-court-election-volunteers-challenge-any-vote\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">here<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aljazeera.com\/news\/2022\/10\/13\/stop-the-steal-poll-watchers-spark-concern-ahead-of-us-midterms\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">here<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>Despite the left\u2019s outcry, having poll watchers monitor elections has proven to be crucial. As Federalist Staff Writer Victoria Marshall <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/10\/06\/what-are-democrats-worried-about-poll-watchers-trying-to-hide\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reported<\/a>, during the 2020 election, a GOP poll watcher in Georgia <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2020\/11\/18\/georgia-republican-poll-watcher-discovered-recount-error-off-by-more-than-9000-votes-for-biden\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">found<\/a>\u00a0a recount error in DeKalb County that \u201cgave more than 9,000 extra votes to Biden over Trump,\u201d with the batch of ballots in question being \u201cincorrectly labeled as containing 10,707 votes for Biden, when it only contained 1,081 votes for him.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In Fairfax County, Virginia, a Republican poll watcher \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/publicinterestlegal.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/Complaint_20211020_0001Fairfaxed.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">noticed<\/a>\u00a0that the Fairfax County Electoral Board was processing absentee and mail-in ballot applications that did not include the last four digits of the applicant\u2019s Social Security Number,\u201d which violated state law.<\/p>\n<p>The goal of the legacy media\u2019s freakout is obvious. In the event that their political allies get annihilated at the ballot box next month, Democrats in the press are setting the stage to pin any and all major election losses on nonexistent voter suppression and intimidation by GOP poll watchers. <\/p>\n<p>While corporate media will undoubtedly keep pumping out attack articles until Election Day, conservatives should prepare to combat the narrative.
