Disinformation campaigns on social media are used to deliberately confuse, trick, or upset the public.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Also being targeted are crimes related to &#8220;misinformation,&#8221;\u00a0 defined on the sheet as &#8220;false or misleading information spread mistakenly or unintentionally.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Other crimes listed are voter intimidation and suppression, voter and ballot fraud, election influence and interference, and crimes relating to campaign finances.<\/p>\n<p>In a section titled &#8220;Things to Consider,&#8221; the <a href=\"https:\/\/thepostmillennial.com\/fbi-director-uses-federal-jet-to-the-point-of-embezzlement\">FBI<\/a> reminds its agents of the public\u2019s First and Fourth Amendment rights.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Free speech is one of the rights protected by the First Amendment of the US Constitution,&#8221; the sheet states. &#8220;The First Amendment prohibits the investigation\/intelligence activity based &#8216;solely&#8217; to monitor the First Amendment activities.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We must be careful due to concerns that the government is limiting free speech by monitoring activity associated with protected classes.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The sheet states that internet activities like social media posts, instant messages, and post reactions are all &#8220;First Amendment-protected speech.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>In regards to the Fourth Amendment, the sheet states, &#8220;The Fourth Amendment protects against unreasonable searches and seizures without probable cause and, generally, requires a search warrant if the search will intrude on a reasonable expectation of privacy.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;As it pertains to social media and open source, &#8216;publically available means the online content must be available to the investigator in the same manner that it is to the general public.
