It\u2019s just what the law is in Pennsylvania.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Chapman, a Democrat, is likely referring to the numerous delays that occurred following the 2020 General Election, which sparked allegations of voter fraud.<\/p>\n<p>She also responded to questions about whether voters should hold onto their absentee ballots or turn them into their local election board on Election Day. The official said that voters shouldn\u2019t delay sending them in.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have heard that there\u2019s messaging out there in Pennsylvania, as far as instructing voters to hold onto their mail-in ballots,\u201d Chapman said. \u201cAs part of our voter education campaign, we encourage voters to request that mail-in ballot now and return it as soon as possible. We don\u2019t want voters to delay.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2>Court Cases<\/h2>\n<p>Earlier this month, the U.S. Supreme Court\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/supreme-court-backs-republican-in-pennsylvania-mail-in-ballots-case_4788521.html\">vacated<\/a> an appeals court decision that required Pennsylvania to count mail-in ballots that don\u2019t have dates on the envelope.\u00a0Pennsylvania law stipulates that voters have to write the date on the outer envelope in order for their mail-in ballot to be counted.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe judgment is vacated, and the case is remanded to the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit with instructions to dismiss the case as moot,\u201d wrote Justices Sonia Sotomayor and Ketanji Brown Jackson as they sided with David Ritter, a Republican candidate for a judgeship in the commonwealth who lost by only a handful of votes.<\/p>\n<p>About a week later, Republicans in Pennsylvania <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/republicans-sue-over-pennsylvania-officials-saying-theyll-accept-mail-in-ballots-without-dates_4800912.html\">filed<\/a> a lawsuit against Chapman and asked the Pennsylvania Supreme Court to\u00a0declare illegal guidance regarding ballots that lack dates.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPetitioners ask the Court to issue a declaration that the date requirement is valid and mandatory, and that the Acting Secretary\u2019s contrary guidance is invalid. Moreover, to preserve the rights of all voters and candidates, the Court should immediately issue an order directing county boards of elections to segregate any undated or incorrectly dated ballots received for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/t-2022\">2022<\/a> general election,\u201d the legal challenge reads.<\/p>\n<p>Pennsylvania\u2019s midterm election includes the hotly contested race between Lt. Gov.
