Earlier this month, the defendant, who is defending himself, argued with a witness by claiming he <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/waukesha-christmas-parade-crash-suspect-says-he-no-longer-identifies-by-his-name\">no longer identified by his name<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The defendant was questioning Waukesha Police Detective Thomas Casey, who was at the parade and tried to stop the vehicle that crashed into the crowd. During his questioning, the defendant asked Casey to describe a \u201cdisturbance\u201d he heard just before the attack, which resulted in the following exchange:<\/p>\n<p><em>Casey: I heard a horn beeping, and then a Ford Escape came through the parade route, and you drove past me and wouldn\u2019t stop and you continued driving through the parade route.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Defendant: Who is you?<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Casey: [Suspect\u2019s name], the defendant seated at the table.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Defendant: Uh, let the record reflect that I do not identify by that name nor do I know anybody by that name.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Judge Dorow: The objection is noted.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Just days later, the defendant demanded his case be dismissed because there were no victims present to face him, The Daily Wire <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/alleged-waukesha-christmas-parade-killer-mocks-victims-in-court-while-demanding-that-case-be-dismissed\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhere\u2019s the injured party? Is the injured party present in court right now?\u201d the defendant asked in court. \u201cCan anyone, can anyone make a claim against me? Can you make a claim against me, your honor?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDo you know anyone that can make a claim against me, your honor? Can anyone right now in court, anyone, make a claim against me?\u201d he continued. \u201cAnd because of that, your honor, the motion to dismiss should be granted based on that alone. There is no injured party in this matter. So, who makes the claim? Who?\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/heavy.com\/news\/darrell-brooks-jr\/\">Heavy.com<\/a>, a fact-finding website, and <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/stillgray\/status\/1462893635389706242\">various<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MrAndyNgo\/status\/1462786486915510277\">journalists<\/a> online highlighted posts on social media accounts that allegedly belonged to the killer.
