Mayra Flores (R., Texas), who became the first Mexican-born congresswoman after winning a special election in June. The caucus, which &#8220;addresses national and international issues and crafts policies that impact the Hispanic community,&#8221; <a href=\"https:\/\/chc.house.gov\/about\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/chc.house.gov\/&#038;source=gmail&#038;ust=1666885102053000&#038;usg=AOvVaw29p50qj9vXeCx9BtVBUQOq\">according<\/a> to its website, spurned Flores because of her political affiliation, <em>Townhall<\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/townhall.com\/tipsheet\/juliorosas\/2022\/10\/26\/mayra-flores-prevented-from-joining-the-hispanic-congressional-caucus-n2615023\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/townhall.com\/tipsheet\/juliorosas\/2022\/10\/26\/mayra-flores-prevented-from-joining-the-hispanic-congressional-caucus-n2615023&#038;source=gmail&#038;ust=1666885102053000&#038;usg=AOvVaw27flRIAL3w2NHjQJ0Jik0k\">reports<\/a>:<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><em>Townhall has exclusively learned Rep. Mayra Flores (R-TX) was prevented from joining the Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC), the leading caucus for Latino members of Congress, because she is a Republican and membership is only reserved for Democrats.<\/em><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><em>According to those familiar with the situation, Flores requested to join CHC in early October and was rejected shortly thereafter. Flores is not only first Mexican-born woman to serve in Congress, but she also represents a district along the U.S.-Mexico border that is overwhelmingly Latino.
