I had been constantly certain that she was going to break up with me,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhy would she not? I was not enough; I could never be enough; I was broken, bent, unlovable. So instead of facing the inevitable agony of losing her,\u00a0I broke up with the beautiful and brilliant Julia Roberts,\u201d Perry continued, adding that he couldn\u2019t \u201cbegin to describe the look of confusion on her face\u201d when he called it quits.<\/p>\n<p>The actor, who struggled for decades with the substance abuse problems that almost killed him, said that he was always afraid when he was in relationships \u2014 he never knew who really valued him and who might only be dating him because of his money and fame.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat was me afraid,\u201d Perry told <a href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/tv\/matthew-perry-looks-forward-to-being-a-husband-and-father\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">PEOPLE Magazine<\/a>, explaining that he was almost always the one to end relationships. \u201cThat is what I manifest, something that\u2019s wrong with them. And then I break up with them \u2026\u00a0But there can\u2019t be something wrong with everyone. I\u2019m the common denominator.
