Raffensperger<\/em>, for which Lawrence-Hardy was lead counsel, had most of its courtroom activity,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2022\/10\/24\/stacey-abrams-fair-fight-action-00061348\">Politico<\/a> reported.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is a very clear conflict of interest because with that kind of close link to the litigation and her friend that provides an opportunity where the friend gets particularly enriched from this litigation,\u201d Craig Holman of Public Citizen declared.<\/p>\n<p>Abrams founded Fair Fight Action after losing the 2018 election to the GOP\u2019s Brian Kemp \u2014 who was then serving as Secretary of State \u2014 and then claiming thousands of voters had been disenfranchised. In December 2020, Raffensberger <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/trump-runs-the-stacey-abrams-playbook-11607295416\">wrote bluntly<\/a>, \u201cMs. Abrams still refuses to acknowledge she lost.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFair Fight Action ought to explain why this lawsuit cost so much,\u201d Kathleen Clark, a professor of legal ethics at Washington University commented. \u201cI think there are significant questions about this choice of firm and just why this lawsuit was so much more expensive. And there may be perfectly valid, innocent explanations to both of those questions. But I don\u2019t know what they are.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\u201cIt is essential that non-government organizations, that charitable organizations be run so they actually further their stated purposes,\u201d Clark continued. \u201cIt\u2019s important that we have assurances that it is pursuing its stated goals, rather than feathering someone\u2019s nest.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-content-child-index=\"3-4\"><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>The initial lawsuit made roughly twenty different claims but Judge Steve Jones jettisoned most of them and focused on three issues. \u201cI call it the incredible shrinking lawsuit,\u201d quipped Georgia attorney General Chris Carr.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt started off with allegations of tens of thousands of votes that were suppressed across the state of Georgia in the 2018 Election,\u201d he pointed out. \u201cWe\u2019re down to seven individuals who didn\u2019t vote. \u2026 That is not what they brought. That\u2019s not what their press conferences have been about. That\u2019s not what their fundraising emails have been about. It was about a watershed landmark voter suppression case. That\u2019s what they took to the American people, not just Georgians, they made this a national campaign.
