And we have time to make that decision,\u201d Biden <a href=\"https:\/\/www.msnbc.com\/the-reidout\/watch\/president-biden-vows-to-protect-women-s-right-to-choose-if-gop-takes-control-of-congress-151266373724\">told<\/a> MSNBC\u2019s Jonathan Capehart in a sit-down at Delaware State University.<\/p>\n<p>Biden said the reason he is not making a final judgment on whether he\u2019ll formally run or not is because once he makes that conclusion, a \u201cwhole series of regulations kick in,\u201d and then he has to treat himself as a candidate from that moment on.<\/p>\n<p>When asked on the program if his wife, Jill Biden,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/mkt_app\/jill-biden-says-she-hasnt-discussed-2024-reelection-bid-with-husband_4726451.html\">supports a 2024 run<\/a>, the president said that the first lady thinks what they\u2019re doing \u201cis something very important\u201d and he shouldn\u2019t \u201cwalk away from it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>About a month ago, the president said in an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/president-joe-biden-2024-election-60-minutes-2022-09-18\/\">interview<\/a> with CBS\u2019 \u201c60 Minutes\u201d that his decision to run for office again is \u201cmuch too early\u201d and that he will wait until\u00a0after the\u00a0midterm elections in November to come to a final conclusion on the matter.<\/p>\n<p>In June, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre insisted Biden would mount another presidential reelection campaign.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe president, as you know, has been asked that question many times, and he has answered it,\u201d Jean-Pierre said. \u201cHis answer has been pretty simple, which is, yes, he\u2019s running for reelection. I can\u2019t say more than that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Biden is the oldest president in American history and will celebrate his 80th birthday in November,\u00a0making him the first octogenarian commander-in-chief.<\/p>\n<p>Democrats have largely pledged their support for Biden in 2024 if he seeks a second term in the Oval Office, but a handful of Democrats\u00a0have suggested that Biden would not be the best flag bearer for the party after a politically unpopular first term.<\/p>\n<h2>Americans Prefer Republicans on Economy<\/h2>\n<p>A USA Today-Ipsos poll\u00a0(<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ipsos.com\/sites\/default\/files\/ct\/news\/documents\/2022-08\/USA%20Today%20Partisan%20Poll%20Topline%20082522.pdf\">pdf<\/a>) in late August found that 56 percent of Democratic voters are against Biden\u2019s reelection bid, despite the vast majority approving his government experience and \u201cmajor policy knowledge and expertise.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The survey also found that Americans prefer a GOP-led government because Republicans are viewed as better for the economy, especially at a time when inflation\/increasing costs are the single most important issue to Americans.<\/p>\n<p>During Friday\u2019s interview, Capehart addressed Biden that \u201cpoll after poll\u201d shows Americans trust Republicans more on the economy and suggest the GOP should control Congress.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFirst of all, I\u2019m not sure about the polls,\u201d Biden responded, brushing off the polls. \u201cNumber two, a lot of what we\u2019ve done and what we\u2019ve passed has not kicked in yet.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Biden added that he thinks it\u2019s \u201ca process\u201d for Americans to make sure that what Democrats have been saying actually \u201creally is gonna happen,\u201d noting that\u2019s the reason why in the final weeks leading up to the midterm elections he\u2019s been focused on addressing Democrats\u2019 agenda and motivate people to vote.<\/p>\n<p>The president also argued that Republicans don\u2019t have a plan to address economic concerns for Americans, saying: \u201cThey don\u2019t have a platform other than to tear down what I\u2019ve been able to do, we\u2019ve been able to do. And I don\u2019t know what they\u2019re for.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In September, U.S. inflation hit an annual 8.2 percent, a higher figure than in some other advanced economies.\u00a0Canada (7 percent), Australia (6.1 percent), France (5.6 percent), and Switzerland (3.3 percent) are examples of countries that in September reported lower rates of inflation.<\/p>\n<p>JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon recently warned that the United States is likely going to fall into a recession in the next six to nine months, adding that the Fed \u201cwaited too long and did too little\u201d and is now \u201cclearly catching up.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>An economic model run by Bloomberg Economics <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/odds-of-recession-rise-to-100-percent-despite-bidens-claims-of-a-strong-economy-bloomberg-economics_4801318.html\">recently boosted<\/a> its estimate for the probability of a U.S. recession in the next 12 months from an earlier projection of 65 percent to a full 100 percent.<\/p>\n<p>Biden, by contrast, has mostly sought to portray the economy in optimistic terms.
