By <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencedirect.com\/science\/article\/abs\/pii\/0305048396000126?via%3Dihub\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ScienceDirect\u2019s<\/a><u>\u00a0<\/u>telling in 1996, \u201c\u2026 females employed by major airlines had <em>significantly higher<\/em> accident rates than their male counterparts overall.\u201d [Emphasis added.]\n<p>With Woke comes a prohibition on inquiry, hence the dated study. However, logic dictates that matters in the aviation industry have gotten way worse, as standards then were way more stringent than we have now in the airlines.<\/p>\n<p>To be expected, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencedirect.com\/science\/article\/abs\/pii\/0305048396000126\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ScienceDirect<\/a> then launches a fusillade of excuse-making weasel words to conceal with bafflegab that if you fly with a female, you\u2019re a little less likely to reach your destination. It\u2019s a ghost of a chance, but hey, life matters. Do you want to lose it?\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Yes, female pilots have a higher error\/accident rate, but never mind that say the Fake Science purveyors; this is only so because they are younger and less experienced. Airlines should make every effort to recruit and retain \u201cexperienced\u201d females and manage diversity, they exhort.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Essentially\u2014and while plummeting to his death\u2014the passenger should search his bigoted soul. In addition to letting go of your life; you must release all bigotry. Those thoughts about how race and sex could well correlate with flight safety, and how you wish you had checked the pilot before you took the fatal flight: Let them go. Oh, and by the way, RIP, you sexist, you racist. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The desired outcome is that you fly with a less able pilot, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thebalance.com\/ceteris-paribus-definition-pronunciation-and-examples-3305723\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>ceteris paribus<\/em><\/a>. This is astonishing, really, for impartial, scientific inquiry is meant to concern itself with facts, yet the authors of \u201cComparing pilot-error accident rates of male and female airline pilots\u201d conflate and collapse what ought to be two separate categories: The <em>reality of\u00a0<\/em>sex-based differences in pilot competence, and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.scribbr.com\/methodology\/confounding-variables\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">confounding variables<\/a> (age and experience) on the one hand, and <em>how one might feel<\/em> about these differences, on the other.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Or, as a rational reader <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/DavidCheungGuy\/status\/1533408137021202432\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">put it<\/a>:<\/p>\n<p>The article \u201cstates in the beginning that females had a higher accident rate, then it states they are about the same as males. So, which is it???\u201d&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Pretty much.<\/p>\n<p>I wonder. Does anyone grasp the difference between a veteran of the Air Force versus a \u201cpilot\u201d trained at an affirmative-action, feel-good girlie flight school? It\u2019s life and death.<\/p>\n<p>Remember Capt. \u201cSully\u201d Sullenberger\u2019s famed \u201cUnable; we\u2019ll be in the Hudson\u201d? His was the very embodiment of \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ilanamercer.com\/2009\/02\/manliness-not-a-miracle-on-the-hudson\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">manliness (not a miracle) on the Hudson<\/a>.\u201d Nothing but cool hands and a mind to match at the controls.<\/p>\n<p>Capt. Sullenberger\u2019s airbus, carrying 155 passengers, had lost the thrust in both engines following a \u201cdouble bird strike.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0Having been informed of the emergency, Ground Control radioed the captain: \u201cWhich runway would you like at Teterboro?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0Capt. Sullenberger to Ground Control: \u201cUnable; we\u2019re going to be in the Hudson.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Those were the laconic, spare words of the iconic \u201cSully,\u201d as he calmly prepared to crash\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/i\/pix\/2011\/06\/05\/article-0-0C6895EB00000578-747_964x371.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">land Cactus 1549 in the Hudson River<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>With no engine power, flying at a low speed, at low altitude, \u201cover one of the most densely populated areas on the planet,\u201d Captain Sullenberger managed to glide the jet, using its \u201cforward momentum to provide the air flow over the wings,\u201d so as to enable \u201csufficient lift.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The river was the only \u201cviable\u201d surface on which to land with a chance of survival. That, Sullenberger had determined after \u201c<em>two and a half minutes into the flight\u2014and just one minute after the birds had hit<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Who do you want in the cockpit during such an event? Sullenberger, a high- intelligence<a href=\"https:\/\/tinyurl.com\/mrc8ncxj\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u00a0retired Air Force fighter pilot<\/a>? Or dreamy Ms. Zakiya Percy and Ms. Cetrena Simmons, to be introduced shortly.<\/p>\n<p>Avoid flying United Airlines, which has started its own flight school, The Aviate Academy. At \u201cleast half of the new pilots will be women or people of color. Of the 121 students enrolled so far, about 78 percent are women or nonwhite.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Republic Airways, likewise, stacks its flight school with pigmentally pleasing faces, who pay to pilot. \u201cTwo years and about $100,000\u201d in tuition fees is what qualifies a pilot,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/ebonynewstoday.com\/2022\/04\/the-end-of-the-all-male-all-white-cockpit\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">protests<\/a> Zakiya Percy, who is a pilot for UA, and also a psychology major.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>By contrast, consider one of the pilots this writer has had the pleasure of \u201cmeeting\u201d through this column:\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Retired from the military some years back as a naval officer and pilot, my acquaintance had gone to test pilot school in 2005 and spent 9 of a storied 20-year career in the Navy, flight-testing the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.publicdomainpictures.net\/pictures\/230000\/velka\/fa-18-hornet-1503101579whp.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">FA-18 aircraft<\/a>. He did four total overseas deployments, twice in Iraq and twice in Afghanistan. He flew the <a href=\"https:\/\/crewdaily.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/EA-6B-Prowler-2.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">EA-6B jet<\/a> aircraft during three of these four deployments logging 397\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/i.ytimg.com\/vi\/858mcE4HWwQ\/maxresdefault.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">carrier landings<\/a>. His first deployment was in 2002 and last in 2013. The man has a BS in mechanical engineering and a masters in Systems Engineering and was a test pilot for Boeing.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Stack this pilot\u2019s bewildering accomplishments and intelligence\u2014the aircraft is an extension of his body and mind\u2014against Ms. Percy\u2019s, bless her, who is a graduate of a two-year course run by a corrupt industry, has a degree in psychology and the perfect complexion. Or, against\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/ebonynewstoday.com\/2022\/04\/the-end-of-the-all-male-all-white-cockpit\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ms. Cetrena Simmons, 29,<\/a> who started her pilot training at Republic Airways\u2019 flight school in 2018, and is now piloting planes for the airline.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>As Idiocracy\u2019s iconic Dr. Lexus (IQ around 60) would <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=BdPmNM0IF7Y\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">say<\/a>, \u201cKickass.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>He\u2019d add reassuringly: \u201cMy first wife was \u2018tarded; she\u2019s a pilot now.
