Is this how you cover a mass murdering psychopath who mowed down 70 innocent people?\u201d the user commented.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Wtf? Is this how you cover a mass murdering psychopath who mowed down 70 innocent people? <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/4tvz5ZF1hp\">pic.twitter.com\/4tvz5ZF1hp<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 End Wokeness (@EndWokeness) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/EndWokeness\/status\/1583557867197456384?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">October 21, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Twitter users slammed the outlets, accusing them of trying to garner sympathy for the alleged killer.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cApparently, \u2018tearful opening statement\u2019 is today\u2019s Universal Mainstream Media tagline for mass murderer sympathy,\u201d one user wrote on Twitter.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c\u2018Tearful opening\u2019 He ran over children with a car,\u201d wrote another.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c@AP @MSNBC @abcnews @CBSNews this is how we punish a person who killed unarmed elderly, children, and other citizens?! #shame,\u201d another user replied.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHow do you sleep at night?\u201d a user questioned. \u201cWe\u2019re supposed to feel sorry for this mass murderer?? You all are sick in the head. @AP @abcnews @CBSNews.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis headline is gross and he\u2019s a cold blooded murder,\u201d said another user. \u201cHe knew what he was doing and the harm he was inflicting.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The popular Twitter account Defiant L\u2019s posted a photo comparing the Waukesha headline with another USA Today headline attacking Kyle Rittenhouse for crying on the witness stand at his trial.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"zxx\"><a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/ewFM5hanDd\">pic.twitter.com\/ewFM5hanDd<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Defiant L\u2019s (@DefiantLs) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/DefiantLs\/status\/1583599025453817856?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">October 21, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The social media backlash comes even as the legacy media has previously downplayed the Waukesha attack. In the immediate aftermath of the attack in 2021, an Associated Press headline read: \u201cChild is 6th death in Waukesha parade crash; suspect charged\u201d; a tweet from CBS News labeled the attack \u201cdeadly Christmas parade crash.\u201d Other outlets referred to the attack as a \u201ctragedy\u201d or a \u201ccrash.\u201d But, as The Daily Wire <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/media-calls-waukesha-fatal-car-ramming-a-crash-they-called-2017-charlottesville-car-ramming-an-attack\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a> at the time, those outlets referred to the 2017 car ramming in Charlottesville, Virginia, as a \u201ccar attack.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The suspect\u2019s outburst is just the latest in a series of erratic behaviors and antics he has engaged in during his trial proceedings.<\/p>\n<p>He has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/alleged-waukesha-christmas-parade-killer-mocks-victims-in-court-while-demanding-that-case-be-dismissed\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">mocked the victims<\/a> of the attack and demanded that the charges against him be dropped because the victims were not present to accuse him; he has repeatedly yelled at and argued with the trial judge; and he has claimed that he <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/waukesha-christmas-parade-crash-suspect-says-he-no-longer-identifies-by-his-name\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">does not identify<\/a> by his given name, nor does he know anybody by that name. On Friday, the judge was forced to call a recess after he <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/story\/news\/nation\/2022\/10\/21\/darrell-brooks-parade-trial-judge-says-she-scared-after-outburst\/10565977002\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">stared her down<\/a> in court. \u201cThis man right now is having a stare-down with me,\u201d the judge said. \u201cIt\u2019s very disrespectful. He pounded his fist. Frankly, it makes me scared.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The defendant, who is not being named in accordance with longstanding <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/why-daily-wire-will-no-longer-publish-names-or-ben-shapiro\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Daily Wire policy<\/a> not to share the names or pictures of perpetrators of mass casualty events, is accused of killing six people, including an eight-year-old girl, and wounding dozens of others by plowing his car through a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/at-least-5-dead-40-injured-after-driver-plows-into-christmas-parade-possible-suspected-identified\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Christmas parade<\/a> in Waukesha in 2021.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Legacy media outlets were slammed online for their fawning coverage of the alleged Waukesha parade killer\u2019s opening statement.
