They likewise pointed to the Supreme Court\u2019s recent opinion in West Virginia v. EPA, which <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/supreme-court-rules-against-bidens-epa-says-agency-does-not-have-authority-to-regulate-carbon-dioxide-emissions\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">explained<\/a> that federal agencies cannot assert \u201chighly consequential power beyond what Congress could reasonably be understood to have granted.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Supreme Court Justice Amy Coney Barrett also <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/us-supreme-court-amy-coney-barrett-wisconsin-government-and-politics-business-650cf994711d429701722c97fedd2bb7\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">rejected<\/a> an appeal from the Brown County Taxpayers Association, a taxpayers group based in Wisconsin, to challenge the student debt cancellation program. Both losses occurred after the White House unveiled a website by which individuals could request student loan forgiveness. Biden <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/more-than-8-million-people-apply-for-student-debt-cancellation-as-biden-drops-application-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a> during a Monday speech that the online application takes \u201cless than five minutes\u201d to finish, noting that more than 8 million people had filed for loan forgiveness \u201cwithout a glitch\u201d on a beta site launched Friday.<\/p>\n<p>One <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbo.gov\/system\/files\/2022-09\/58494-Student-Loans.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">estimate<\/a> from the Congressional Budget Office predicts that the overall cost of the loan cancellation could reach $400 billion, raising questions about <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/national-debt-surpasses-31-trillion-for-the-first-time-republicans-and-democrats-both-to-blame\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">budgetary impacts<\/a>.
