All of those were full this morning.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Yale New Haven Children\u2019s Hospital emergency department saw RSV cases almost double from 57 to 106 admissions last week.<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><strong>RELATED: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailyfetched.com\/myocarditis-awareness-ad-appears-to-suggest-condition-is-common-in-kids\/\">Myocarditis Awareness Ad Appears to Suggest Condition Is Common in Kids<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Several D.C.-area <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailyfetched.com\/cross-country-runner-17-suffers-massive-heart-attack-after-race\/\">hospitals<\/a> have also reached capacity for weeks, The Washington Post <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/dc-md-va\/2022\/10\/20\/pediatrics-hospital-capacity-dc-children\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Over 650 beds from three different hospitals have now reached their limit; those hospitals include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Children\u2019s National Hospital in Northwest D.C<\/li>\n<li>Inova Fairfax in Northern Virginia<\/li>\n<li>Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u201cWe are treating a very high number of severely ill children,\u201d Sarah Combs, an emergency medicine physician at Children\u2019s National, told The Washington Post.<\/p>\n<p>MedStar Montgomery Medical Center pediatrician, Sofia Teferi, said she could not find an intensive care bed for a 4-month-old patient in the region.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe fact that you have to look at the parent and say your kid needs ICU-level care, but we have no bed for them: That\u2019s a very hard conversation to have,\u201d Teferi said. \u201cI\u2019m just floored by the whole thing \u2014 in the nation\u2019s capital.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Chief of pediatric hospital medicine at Johns Hopkins Children\u2019s Center, Eric Biondi, said the hospital is \u201ccompletely full.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s not just a problem of how busy we are at Hopkins, which we are, but it flows out to the remote community emergency rooms that have to move kids,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, California, Illinois, Massachusetts, North Carolina, and Rhode Island hospitals have also seen a massive influx of RSV patients.<\/p>\n<p>Signs that a child has contracted RSV include changes in breathing, grunting noises, and chest caving with each breath, according to The Hill.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hospitals across the United States are overwhelmed with children suffering from a specific respiratory illness, according to reports.
