He only received the suspension and was not fined or docked any points.<\/p>\n<p>Wallace intentionally retaliated against Kyle Larson after he dove to the bottom of both him and Kevin Harvick in Turn 3. However, he never makes contact with Wallace and after coming out of Turn 4, Wallace slams into the outside wall hard. After hitting the wall he bounces down into Larson\u2019s car. Larson dives to the bottom of the track. Wallace chases him down there and then purposefully hits him in the right rear quarter panel sending both cars spinning up the track.<\/p>\n<p>Larson would hit Christopher Bell on his way to the outside wall. Wallace would smack the outside wall, nose first, shortly after.<\/p>\n<div class=\"video-block full\">\n<div class=\"video-player youtube\">[embedded content]<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Kyle Petty reacted to NASCAR\u2019s suspension revealing the punishment was not hard enough and that he believes Wallace should have been suspended for the rest of the season.<\/p>\n<p>Petty began, \u201cMarty, my friend, there\u2019s so many layers to this onion. We could deep fry it and sell it at Outback. It\u2019s a Bloomin\u2019 Onion. So I disagree a little and this is what I say. He should have been suspended for the rest of the year. Rest of the year.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"video-block full\">\n<div class=\"video-player youtube\">[embedded content]<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Petty went on to explain why he believes Wallace should have been suspended for the rest of the year, \u201cHe drives for Denny Hamlin, who has been vocal about safety. The only reason he\u2019s in the 45 car is his teammate\u2019s career was all but ended because of an accident in this car that the drivers have vocalized need to be safer.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe turns a guy in the right rear into the outside wall intentionally. Steering break? That\u2019s laughable. That\u2019s a suspension,\u201d he asserted. \u201cHe\u2019s walking across the racetrack and cars are going by him on both sides. That\u2019s not safe. That should be another suspension. Physically confronts a driver. Shoves him. That\u2019s a physical confrontation. So you can turn a guy, right side, driver side into the wall at 180 mph and you get one,\u201d Petty compared.<\/p>\n<p>He then pointed to the suspension of Kyle Busch\u2019s crew chief and pit crew that were given four week suspensions at the same time Wallace was only given one, \u201cOh yeah, and by the way we won\u2019t see on the same day the juxtaposition of the 18 crew chief and pit crew who get four week suspension for a tire rolling down pit road. But let me go back, it\u2019s okay to spin a guy and knock him into a wall and you only get one.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe optics of that for NASCAR and the optics are not good. They\u2019re just not good. He should have at least gotten the rest of the year. They didn\u2019t leave that wheel off intentionally. They didn\u2019t, okay? They didn\u2019t not get it on in time. They didn\u2019t not they were like, \u2018Oh, we\u2019re going to run over there and we\u2019re going to leave this wheel off and we\u2019re going to get four weeks vacation.\u2019 That was not intentional. What he did was an intention.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe can say the steering broke, but he never lifted off the accelerator at the same time he drove back down the racetrack whichever way you want to go,\u201d Petty continued. \u201cThis was an unprofessional move. What we saw out of Kyle Larson was a champion and a professional reaction to the situation. The way he backed away from Bubba. The way your interview with him, another good interview, Marty. You have no recourse, no chance to recover. So at that point in time Kyle Larson\u2019s along for the ride. The way the car spun, the way it hit the 20 car, it goes driver\u2019s side in. We\u2019ve seen, again, you\u2019ve seen Kurt Busch and we\u2019ve seen Alex Bowman. They backed in and they\u2019re not here right now. They\u2019re not driving because of concussions.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis could have been the season-ending if not a career-ending accident for him. Could have been. And I don\u2019t want to get into ifs and buts and candy and nuts. But at this speed at this place that was unintentional, intentional whichever way you see it out there, people. My behavior does not align with the core values that are shared by 23XI Racing and our partners, who have played a crucial role in my incredible journey to the top of this great sport.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He continued, \u201cI want to apologize to NASCAR and the fans, along with Christopher Bell, Joe Gibbs Racing, and Toyota for putting them in a situation in the Playoffs that they do not deserve. I compete with immense passion, and with passion at times comes frustration.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUpon reflecting, I should have represented our partners and core team values better than I did by letting my frustrations follow me outside of the car. It just is.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUntil I see what Bubba has to say and see if there\u2019s some contrition, if there\u2019s some, you know, \u2018I\u2019m sorry, this should have never happened,\u2019 but we have yet to hear from the man. We have yet to hear from the man. You see a piece of paper with writing on it. That\u2019s all I see. I don\u2019t see anything. Sack up and come apologize.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI hate to say that, but in an incident like this there needs to be more than just a written not here with that origami logo on the bottom of it. He has yet to convince me that he got the message. Have you seen anything that says he\u2019s got the message. Other than the tweets that were sent out on his Twitter account.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Snider replies, \u201cWhich you do not know if he sent those out.\u201d Petty responds, \u201cThat\u2019s my point. That\u2019s my point. In essence that\u2019s my point right there. These showed up on his Twitter account, but nowhere does it say that Bubba Wallace sent these out. Nowhere has Bubba Wallace said that he\u2019s apologized. Nowhere have we heard from Bubba Wallace or anybody else that we believe has spoken to Bubba Wallace. We see a black piece of paper with white writing on a Twitter account that has Bubba\u2019s name on it.
