Leading a coalition of 19 states, Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt has launched an investigation into six major banks for this so-called \u201cESG\u201d push.<\/p>\n<p>According to a <a href=\"https:\/\/mailchi.mp\/f6708083a719\/missouri-attorney-general-leads-19-state-coalition-in-launching-investigation-into-six-major-banks-over-esg-investing?e=9a8c31b236\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">press release<\/a> from Schmitt\u2019s office, the Missouri attorney general and 18 others have served Bank of America, Citigroup, Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan Chase, Morgan Stanley, and Wells Fargo \u201cwith civil investigative demands, which act as a subpoena, asking for documents relating to the companies\u2019 involvement with the United Nations\u2019 (UN) Net-Zero Banking Alliance.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>As part of a broader global push for \u201cenvironmental, social, and governance,\u201d or ESG, standards \u2014 an <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/10\/13\/will-globalist-corporate-governance-schemes-bleed-into-the-cw-network\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">unofficial social credit system<\/a> that \u201cranks corporations by how well they follow mainstream environmental movements, practice social justice, and support \u2018acceptable\u2019 political endeavors\u201d \u2014 this UN alliance requires companies that use these banks to work toward reducing emissions\u00a0to net zero by 2050. In other words, those in fossil fuels or without radical climate targets \u2014 including farmers and the oil and gas industry \u2014 could be banned from getting loans or credit.<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">The Missouri Attorney General&#8217;s Office has been a national leader in the fight against ESG (environmental, social, governance) investing and banking practices.<a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/XuhYDa6Ydi\">https:\/\/t.co\/XuhYDa6Ydi<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Attorney General Eric Schmitt (@AGEricSchmitt) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/AGEricSchmitt\/status\/1582768079200583684?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">October 19, 2022<\/a>  <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Net-Zero Banking Alliance is a massive worldwide agreement by major banking institutions, overseen by the U.N., to starve companies engaged in fossil fuel-related activities of credit on national and international markets,\u201d said Schmitt. \u201cMissouri farmers, oil leasing companies, and other businesses that are vital to Missouri\u2019s and America\u2019s economy will be unable to get a loan because of this alliance.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As the Missouri attorney general noted on Twitter, \u201cThe first targeted sectors are power generation, and oil and gas,\u201d but ESG extremism is coming for other industries too. \u201cBanks have also committed to target other sectors, like agriculture, aluminum, cement, commercial and residential real estate, iron and steel, and transport. This would have negative impacts on Missouri\u2019s economy,\u201d Schmitt added.<\/p>\n<p>The AGs\u2019 civil investigation is demanding these banks identify all parts of their financial institutions that have NZBA or ESG-related responsibilities.
