We\u2019re taking action now,\u201d Ducey <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/DougDucey\/status\/1582766086952341505\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">tweeted<\/a> Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>The U.S. Bureau of Reclamation <a href=\"https:\/\/s3.documentcloud.org\/documents\/23132677\/reclamationlettertoducey.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">claimed<\/a> in a letter last week that Arizona was violating federal law by placing the containers on federal land and on the land of Cocopah Indian Tribe\u2019s West Reservation, the Associated Press <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/mexico-arizona-united-states-immigration-doug-ducey-8c3b6d13ce4cf60ce0b83327dd14ecb5\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a> Monday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe unauthorized placement of those containers constitutes a violation of federal law and is a trespass against the United States,\u201d the letter read. \u201cThat trespass is harming federal lands and resources and impeding Reclamation\u2019s ability to perform its mission.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A spokesman for Ducey told the Washington Examiner on Tuesday that the position presented by the Biden administration is not one the state would consider.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe suggestion by any federal bureaucracy, that we take action to make the border easier to cross, is completely unacceptable. Gov. Ducey takes the responsibility to protect Arizona very seriously \u2014 that\u2019s why we put up these containers,\u201d Ducey\u2019s communications director, C.J. Karamargin, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/restoring-america\/fairness-justice\/arizona-tells-biden-wont-tear-down-border-wall\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a> in a call with the outlet. \u201cWhat they\u2019re suggesting, that we take them down and make Arizona less safe, is a nonstarter.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ducey posted pictures of the gap in the border wall before and after the containers were placed.<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">The thousand-foot gap in the border wall near Yuma is closed.<\/p>\n<p>BEFORE: AFTER: <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/b32XQHXFMN\">pic.twitter.com\/b32XQHXFMN<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Doug Ducey (@DougDucey) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/DougDucey\/status\/1559258445919821824?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">August 15, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The governor signed an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/arizona-bucks-biden-admin-begins-filling-in-huge-border-wall-gap-on-its-own\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">executive order<\/a> in August that authorized the Arizona Department of Emergency and Military Affairs to begin emergency construction to fill in a 1,000-foot-long gap in the border wall in the Yuma sector.\u00a0The project was completed just days later.<\/p>\n<p>The order also occurred just days after the Biden administration lifted the \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/dhs-ready-to-end-trump-era-remain-in-mexico-border-policy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Remain in Mexico<\/a>\u201d policy.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cArizona has had enough,\u201d Ducey said in an August 12 <a href=\"https:\/\/azgovernor.gov\/governor\/news\/2022\/08\/governor-ducey-issues-executive-order-fill-gaps-border-wall\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">statement<\/a>. \u201cWe can\u2019t wait any longer. The Biden administration\u2019s lack of urgency on border security is a dereliction of duty. For the last two years, Arizona has made every attempt to work with Washington to address the crisis on our border. Time and time again we\u2019ve stepped in to clean up their mess. Arizonans can\u2019t wait any longer for the federal government to deliver on their delayed promises.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>President Joe Biden signed an executive order on his first day in office that stopped the construction of the border wall authorized by former President Donald Trump.
