The streamer didn\u2019t lose its throne, per se, but the company endured a brutal two quarters of declining subscriber growth and shrinking stock prices.<\/p>\n<p>Blame the Biden economy, the crush of new competitors (Disney+, HBO Max, Peacock) or just the natural order of economic gravity.<\/p>\n<p>Something had to be done.<\/p>\n<p>So Team Netflix tightened its belt and, more importantly, took a stand for creative freedom.<\/p>\n<p>Now, Netflix is seeing the results of its new strategy. So far, so good, but the numbers suggest its brand reappraisal isn\u2019t the only reason to cheer.<\/p>\n<p>Yet.<\/p>\n<p>The company announced it added<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2022\/10\/18\/netflix-nflx-earnings-q3-2022.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> 2.41 million subscribers<\/a> in the third quarter, far more than its modest 1 million projection. That sent shares soaring by 14 percent today.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodintoto.com\/netflix-dave-chappelle-free-speech\/\"><strong>RELATED: WHY NETFLIX\u2019S DEFENSE OF CHAPPELLE MATTERS<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The growth didn\u2019t come from a crush of western subscribers, though. Just 10K were attributed to U.S. \/Canada customers, according to CNBC. (It\u2019s possible the brand makeover kept some subscribers from fleeing, of course.)<\/p>\n<p>The vast majority of new Netflix clients came from the Asia\/Pacific corridor.<\/p>\n<p>The future still looks brighter for the platform. The company stopped its subscriber loss, at least for now. Plus, Netflix\u2019s pro-freedom stance may slowly reverse its far-Left image in many people\u2019s minds. That may give it an edge against hard-charging Disney+, featuring shows which <a href=\"https:\/\/boundingintocomics.com\/2022\/10\/17\/she-hulk-star-says-series-exists-as-a-f-k-you-to-critics-head-writer-boasts-part-of-me-really-loves-trolling-the-trolls\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">actively antagonize its subscribers.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The company also plans an aggressive attack on those who illegally share passwords to access its content in 2023.<\/p>\n<p>The year began badly for Netflix, but its position seems to be stabilizing. It <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2022\/07\/19\/media\/netflix-earnings\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">lost subscribers in the second quarter<\/a>, too, but not as many as some feared. Now, it\u2019s back in the plus department.<\/p>\n<p>All of the above should help Netflix stay on top of the streaming heap. at least for the time being.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>You can only stay on top for so long.
