This time $500 Million \u2066from <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MOTreasurer?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@MOTreasurer<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/FitzpatrickMO?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@FitzpatrickMO<\/a>\u2069. <\/p>\n<p>Missouri the latest state to divest from \u2066<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BlackRock?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@BlackRock<\/a>\u2069 over <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/ESG?src=hash&#038;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#ESG<\/a> initiatives: &#8216;Woke political agenda&#8217;<a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/WTMU7OqpvI\">https:\/\/t.co\/WTMU7OqpvI<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 State Financial Officers Foundation (@SFOF_States) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SFOF_States\/status\/1582374734812966912?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">October 18, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<p>AT&#038;T, which <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/tech\/2022\/07\/26\/verizon-blacklists-one-america-news-network-following-democrat-pressure\/\">blacklisted the conservative OAN network from DirecTV<\/a>, its satelite TV distribution service earlier this year following pressure from Democrat politicians and Democrat-aligned activist groups, may be the next target for Republican states looking to check the rise of corporate tyranny.<\/p>\n<p>In their letter to AT&#038;T, the state treasurers accuse the company of prioritizing partisan concerns over its fiduciary duty to shareholders in dropping OAN.<\/p>\n<p>The letter can be read in full below:<\/p>\n<p>The state treasurers make it clear that they believe DirecTV\u2019s decision to deplatform OAN was driven by political pressure and political bias.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBased on the timing of DirecTV\u2019s decision to coincide with politically-motivated pressure\u00a0campaigns, the lack of a plausible business rationale, and DirecTV\u2019s general decline in subscribers,\u00a0it appears DirecTV acted based on political or personal motives, rather than out of financial\u00a0concern for AT&#038;T\u2019s shareholders and other beneficiaries,\u201d wrote the state treasurers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMore than a breach of fiduciary duty,\u00a0AT&#038;T\u2019s decision brands the company as a partisan operative, damaging its reputation with\u00a0consumers, other cable channels, and the public writ large.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The move by state treasurers comes as AT&#038;T is facing scrutiny in other states, for different reasons.
