Period,\u201d Hanke said. \u201cThat\u2019s the end of the story. It is simpler than you think.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Stewart immediately tried to retort with pseudo-economic reasoning: \u201cI\u2019ve read studies that contradict that, but I don\u2019t know.\u201d Hanke didn\u2019t waste time rebutting: \u201cWhatever you\u2019re reading is rubbish.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Hanke proceeded to school Stewart on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsbusters.org\/blogs\/business\/jeffrey-clark\/2022\/09\/12\/johns-hopkins-economist-slams-fed-blaming-everything-under\">ludicrousness<\/a> of trying to blame <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/business-63301383\">40-year high inflation<\/a> on anything other than the Federal Reserve\u2019s insane money-printing policies:<\/p>\n<p>There has never been a sustained inflation any place in the world that hasn\u2019t been caused by a preceding sustained increase in the money supply. Never.<\/p>\n<p>The money supply skyrocketed to over $21,000,000,000,000 in July, <a href=\"https:\/\/fred.stlouisfed.org\/series\/M2SL\">according to the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis<\/a>. Just two years earlier in July 2020, when Donald Trump was president, the money supply was roughly $18 trillion, meaning that the supply ballooned by over 16 percent in just two years. Hanke called out Federal Reserve Chairman <a href=\"https:\/\/www.federalreserve.gov\/aboutthefed\/bios\/board\/powell.htm\">Jerome Powell<\/a> for his sordid attempts to deflect responsibility for the inflation crisis.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey don\u2019t want the noose around their neck as being the culprits that created the mess we&#8217;re in with inflation right now that everyone\u2019s so mad about,\u201d Hanke said. \u201cThat\u2019s why they\u2019re trying to convince you, Jon, that the supply chains did it. That Putin did it. Oil prices did it.
