Republicans in the House and Senate are <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/justice\/grassley-thibault-testify-hunter-biden-unanswered-questions\">calling for Thibault to speak with them<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>But the now-retired FBI official rejected the interview request from <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/jim-jordan\">Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH)<\/a>, the ranking member on the House Judiciary Committee who has <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/justice\/fbi-official-clamped-down-hunter-biden-testify-republicans\">vowed to pursue this further<\/a> if the GOP wins a majority and he gets the gavel following the November midterm elections. <\/p>\n<p><a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/justice\/hunter-biden-criminal-fbi-investigation-whistleblower-ukraine-china\">FBI HAS &#8216;VOLUMINOUS EVIDENCE&#8217; OF HUNTER BIDEN&#8217;S POSSIBLE CRIMINALITY<\/a> <\/p>\n<p>\u201cConcerning the request for an interview, because the subject matter pertains to sensitive law enforcement information and\/or pending investigations, our client is not in a position to accept this invitation at this juncture,\u201d Thibault lawyer Charles Duross of Morrison-Foerster told Jordan earlier this month in a letter first <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2022\/10\/15\/ex-fbi-agent-timothy-thibault-wont-cooperate-with-house-gop\/\">obtained<\/a> by the New York Post. <\/p>\n<p>Jordan has now <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/republicans-judiciary.house.gov\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/2022-10-14-JDJ-DEI-MJ-to-Thibault-re-following-up-on-TI-request.pdf\">blasted<\/a> Thibault about the FBI\u2019s official\u2019s decision not to sit down for an interview. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cYour refusal to testify is curious in light of your earlier public statement that you \u2018welcome any investigation\u2019 into these matters. \u2026 As we continue to investigate the politicization of the Justice Department and FBI, your testimony remains crucial to our inquiry,\u201d Jordan wrote back to Thibault. \u201cYour baseless assertion that \u2018sensitive law enforcement information and\/or pending investigations\u2019 prevents your cooperation with our inquiry ignores the importance of congressional oversight.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Thibault \u201cordered closed\u201d an \u201cavenue of additional derogatory Hunter Biden reporting\u201d in October 2020, even though \u201call of the reporting was either verified or verifiable via criminal search warrants,\u201d according to <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/justice\/whistleblowers-hunter-biden-wrongly-labeled-disinformation-fbi\">whistleblower disclosures made public<\/a> by Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA) in July. <\/p>\n<p>Thibault left the FBI in August. His lawyers released a statement at the time, saying he <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/justice\/fbi-agent-hunter-biden-whistleblower-resigned\">\u201cwas not fired, not forced to retire, and not asked to retire.\u201d<\/a> <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere have also been allegations that Mr. Thibault took certain actions in investigations for partisan political reasons,\u201d Thibault\u2019s attorneys said. \u201cMr. Thibault welcomes any investigation of these false allegations, regardless of his retirement.
