But Dr. Clifford Chen has donated more than $1,300 to Fetterman\u2019s camp, and totaled nearly $2,500 in donations to Democrats in closely contested races nationwide. The report is the latest development in Fetterman\u2019s recovery from a massive stroke, which is front-and-center in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/trafalgar-founder-on-poll-indicating-pa-senate-race-tightening-people-starting-to-pay-attention\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Pennsylvania Senate contest<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOverall, the Lt. Governor is recovering well from his stroke and his health has continued to improve,\u201d Chen wrote, noting that Fetterman\u2019s physical exam was normal, and he has returned to normal strength and coordination in all four extremities. \u201cHe spoke intelligently without cognitive deficit. His speech was normal and he continues to exhibit symptoms of an auditory processing disorder which can come across as hearing difficulty. Occasional words he will \u2018miss\u2019 which seems like he doesn\u2019t hear the word but it is actually not processed properly. His hearing of sound such as music is not affected. His communication is significantly improved compared to his first visit assisted by speech therapy which he has attended on a regular basis since the stroke.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have spoken with his neurologist and cardiologist and he will follow-up with them routinely,\u201d Chen added. \u201cThe Lt. Governor takes appropriate medications to optimize his heart condition and prevent future strokes. He also exercises routinely and can walk 4 to 5 miles regularly without difficulty. Overall, Lt. Governor Fetterman is well and shows strong commitment to maintaining good fitness and health practices. He has no work restrictions and can work full duty in public office.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But Chen has been an active donor for Fetterman since he announced his candidacy in 2021. Public records from the Federal Elections Commission show that he <a href=\"https:\/\/docquery.fec.gov\/cgi-bin\/fecimg\/?202110159467842463\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">donated $500<\/a> to Fetterman\u2019s campaign in 2021, and a total of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fec.gov\/data\/receipts\/?data_type=efiling&#038;committee_id=C00765800&#038;contributor_name=chen%2C+clifford&#038;contributor_state=PA\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">$830 in 2022<\/a>, including a $100 contribution made on September 23.<\/p>\n<p>Chen also has a history of donating to Democrats nationwide since 2014. According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fec.gov\/data\/receipts\/?data_type=processed&#038;contributor_name=chen%2C+clifford&#038;contributor_employer=upmc&#038;contributor_state=PA\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">FEC records<\/a>, he donated more than $3,000 to Hillary Clinton\u2019s 2016 campaign; he donated to Joe Biden\u2019s 2020 presidential campaign, as well as the Senate campaigns of Georgia Democrats Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock, and Nancy Pelosi\u2019s House race. This year, he also donated to Florida Democrat Val Demings\u2019 Senate campaign. He is also frequent contributor to ActBlue, the Democratic Party\u2019s campaign fundraising arm, and several Democratic campaign arms and PACs.<\/p>\n<p>A spokesman for the Fetterman campaign dismissed concerns about Chen\u2019s political ties. \u201cThis isn\u2019t about politics \u2013 it\u2019s an independent, detailed medical report written by John\u2019s primary care doctor based on his latest office visit from last week,\u201d Fetterman campaign spokesman Joe Calvello said, via <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/fettermans-medical-report-written-doctor-who-contributed-over-1300-campaign-public-records\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Fox News<\/a>. \u201cAnybody baselessly attacking John\u2019s doctor or questioning the standards and integrity of the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center system is grasping at straws because the issue that Dr. Oz staked his whole campaign on just fell apart today.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Fetterman\u2019s health garnered national attention again last week when, during an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/democrat-senate-candidate-fetterman-forced-to-use-giant-screen-for-interview-this-guys-in-bad-shape\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">interview with NBC News<\/a>, Fetterman was seen using a large monitor with closed captioning to read the interviewer\u2019s words in order to compensate for his speech processing issues.
