And we&#8217;ll take whatever next steps we have to take assuming that he will fulfill his legal obligation and honor the subpoena, but if that doesn&#8217;t happen, we&#8217;ll take the steps after that,&#8221; Cheney said.<\/p>\n<p>Cheney, who is vice chairwoman of the Jan. 6 committee, made the remarks days after Rep. Adam Kinzinger (IL), the other Republican member of the panel, <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/politics\/kinzinger-trump-required-comply-jan-6-subpoena\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">told<\/a> George Stephanopoulos on This Week that Trump is &#8220;required by law to come in.&#8221;<\/p>\n[embedded content]\n<p><a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/\">CLICK HERE TO READ MORE FROM THE WASHINGTON EXAMINER<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Trump responded to the Jan. 6 committee&#8217;s vote to approve a subpoena with a 14-page statement on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>He <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/trump-responds-to-final-jan-6-hearing-calling-committee-highly-partisan-political-hacks-and-thugs\">denounced the panel<\/a> as being made up of \u201chighly partisan political Hacks and Thugs\u201d and criticized <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/congress\">Congress<\/a> for funding the <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/january-6-commission\">investigation into the Capitol riot<\/a> despite it being what he calls a \u201cCharade and Witch Hunt,&#8221; but the former president did not directly say whether he intends to cooperate with the subpoena.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Rep.
