The first lady encouraged people to catch up on cancer screenings that were delayed.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsmax.com\/newsmax-tv\/jill-biden-covid-19-cancer\/2022\/10\/17\/id\/1092271\/\">Newsmax<\/a>, Biden said that \u201cpeople are going back\u201d to doctors \u201cand they\u2019re realizing, \u2018Gosh, I forgot to get my colonoscopy; I didn\u2019t get my mammogram; I didn\u2019t get my skin screening.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think in the next couple of months you\u2019re going to see more cancers,\u201d added the first lady. \u201cIt\u2019s not a red issue, a blue issue,\u201d Jill Biden added. \u201cCancer affects every American.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>President Joe Biden\u2019s son, Beau, died from brain cancer seven years ago. During a recent event, the president claimed that his son \u201clost his life in Iraq\u201d despite his son dying from a brain tumor at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Maryland.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI say this as the father of a man who won the Bronze Star, the conspicuous service medal and lost his life in Iraq,\u201d Biden said during his speech in Colorado. It\u2019s not clear why he made that comment, although some speculated it may have been in reference to Beau Biden having been allegedly exposed to toxic burn pits while stationed in Iraq.<\/p>\n<p>In 2018, Biden <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=YMp1SU7jvg0\">told<\/a> PBS that his son was located near Iraqi burn pits when he served in the military and linked it to cancer.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe know now you don\u2019t want to live underneath a smokestack where carcinogens are coming out of it,\u201d Biden told PBS. \u201cBut there has yet to be, that I\u2019m aware of, any direct scientific evidence that a particular person came back with higher instances, there\u2019s a lot higher instances of cancer coming from Iraq now and Afghanistan than in other wars.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In August, the president <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/biden-veterans-obituaries-health-care-reform-jon-tester-cc45130782cfbf86ef29723514ce5e39\">signed<\/a> legislation\u00a0expanding federal health care services for millions of veterans who were located near burn pits.<\/p>\n<p>Rep.\u00a0 Ronny Jackson (R-Texas), a former White House physician, <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RonnyJacksonTX\/status\/1580357827105021953\">wrote<\/a> that the Iraq comment suggests Biden has impaired \u201ccognitive ability\u201d and questioned how he could be commander-in-chief if he has allegedly\u00a0\u201cforgotten moments in his life like this.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis has gone too far.
