(AP Photo\/Manuel Balce Ceneta)      <\/p>\n<p>Danchenko briefly appeared outside the federal courthouse with his wife and legal team after the verdict was handed down, though he did not speak.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve known all along that Mr. Danchenko was innocent,\u201d Danchenko lawyer Stuart Sears said in a brief statement. \u201cWe\u2019re happy now that the American public knows that as well. We thank these jurors for their hard work and deliberations in making the right call, and that\u2019s all we have at this time.\u201d Sears declined to take questions from reporters. <\/p>\n<p>Durham released a statement by email. &#8220;While we are disappointed in the outcome, we respect the jury\u2019s decision and thank them for their service,&#8221; the statement said. &#8220;I also want to recognize and thank the investigators and the prosecution team for their dedicated efforts in seeking truth and justice in this case.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The verdict came after <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/john-durham\">Durham<\/a> took aim at the <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/fbi\">FBI<\/a> in the closing stages of his trial on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>Addressing the \u201celephant in the room\u201d at the trial, Durham made it clear that he believed the FBI had botched up its <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/russia-investigation\">Trump-Russia investigation<\/a> but that lies told to the bureau about British ex-spy Christopher Steele\u2019s dossier still mattered.<\/p>\n<p>Durham said that \u201cthe FBI mishandled the investigation at issue\u201d and that \u201cthe FBI didn\u2019t do what they should have done\u201d in the inquiry, bluntly saying that \u201cthe FBI failed here.\u201d He said the jury did not have to \u201cfeel bad<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ALEXANDRIA, Virginia \u2014 A jury has found Russian national Igor Danchenko not guilty on four false statements charges, declining to convict him for the allegations that the main source of British ex-spy Christopher Steele had lied to the FBI about his sourcing for the discredited anti-Trump dossier.
