Governor and Democratic Senate candidate John Fetterman, blasted NBC News on Monday for raising questions about her husband\u2019s health.<\/p>\n<p>During an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/democrat-senate-candidate-fetterman-forced-to-use-giant-screen-for-interview-this-guys-in-bad-shape\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">interview<\/a> with NBC News reporter Dasha Burns last week, Fetterman used a large computer screen to aid with closed captioning because of auditory processing issues induced by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/pennsylvania-democrat-john-fetterman-to-end-absence-from-campaign-trail-two-months-after-stroke\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">stroke he suffered<\/a> earlier this year. Burns wrote in her <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/politics\/2022-election\/fetterman-says-stroke-recovery-changes-everything-s-fit-serve-senator-rcna51498\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">report<\/a> that Fetterman struggled to speak and \u201chad trouble finding words.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In the aftermath of the interview, many left-leaning reporters began criticizing Burns, forcing the journalist to defend her network\u2019s choice to raise questions about Fetterman\u2019s health. Gisele Fetterman said in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/news\/world\/americas\/us-politics\/john-fetterman-wife-gisele-nbc-interview-b2204496.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">comments<\/a> made to The Independent that Burns was \u201cableist\u201d for noting that her husband has not released his medical records or provided a meaningful update on his recovery.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf this happened in a school, if this was a child that was ableist towards another child or a teacher, there would\u2019ve been issues stated. There would have been new training done,\u201d she told the outlet. \u201cWhat is being done at the media after a reporter came out so openly ableist towards a person? I think shocked and appalled, but sadly not surprised. I know there\u2019s still so much to do, but it would be great to see some accountability, to actually see real change.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Fetterman, whose stroke occurred days before the primary election and required him to receive a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/top-democrat-in-pennsylvania-senate-race-to-get-pacemaker-campaign-announces-on-election-day\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">pacemaker<\/a>, was absent from the campaign trail for much of the summer as he recovered. Several of his public appearances have since been marked by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/new-john-fetterman-video-raises-questions-on-his-fitness-for-office-absolutely-cannot-debate-anyone\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">slurred speech<\/a> and stuttering. According to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/surprising-group-of-voters-is-helping-dr-oz-narrow-the-gap-against-john-fetterman-in-pennsylvania-senate-contest\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">poll<\/a> released earlier this month, roughly 34% of voters in Pennsylvania are \u201cextremely or very worried\u201d that the nominee\u2019s health would render him unable to complete his duties in the Senate \u2014 an 11% increase from three months ago.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd I would love to see an apology towards the disability community from her and from her network for the damage they have caused,\u201d Gisele Fetterman continued. \u201cWe have received so many messages from folks who said, \u2018This is exactly why I\u2019m afraid to seek accommodations. This is exactly why I\u2019m afraid to pursue a different position because of exactly what your husband has gone through.\u2019 So I think he\u2019s shown what he\u2019s experienced, but a lot of people saw themselves in him.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Republican Senate nominee and celebrity cardiologist Dr. Mehmet Oz, despite trailing his opponent for most of the general election contest, is now <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/surprising-group-of-voters-is-helping-dr-oz-narrow-the-gap-against-john-fetterman-in-pennsylvania-senate-contest\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">statistically tied<\/a> to clinch the open Senate seat, leading both major parties to pour millions of dollars into the race. After promising to debate Oz \u201csometime in the middle to end of October\u201d on a \u201cmajor television station\u201d in Pennsylvania, the Fetterman campaign has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/fetterman-versus-oz-pennsylvania-senate-nominees-finally-nail-down-time-and-place-for-debate\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">committed<\/a> to an hour-long debate on October 25.<\/p>\n<p>Despite criticism from his rival and concern from voters, Fetterman told Burns that his willingness to speak in front of live audiences is sufficient for voters to decide whether he has truly recovered from the stroke. \u201cI feel like we have been very transparent in a lot of different ways,\u201d he commented. \u201cI think that\u2019s as transparent as everyone in Pennsylvania can see.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Gisele Fetterman, the wife of Pennsylvania Lt.
