Majorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) blasted the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.congress.gov\/bill\/117th-congress\/house-bill\/5\">Equality Act<\/a> as unconstitutional. Supporters of the Democrat-backed bill argued it would fortify existing bans against discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender. It would also expand areas to which those protections apply.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">I just made a motion to adjourn in order to give every Member of Congress time to rethink destroying <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/WomensRights?src=hash&#038;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#WomensRights<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/WomensSports?src=hash&#038;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#WomensSports<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/ReligiousFreedom?src=hash&#038;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#ReligiousFreedom<\/a> before voting for the <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/EqualityAct?src=hash&#038;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#EqualityAct<\/a>!<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Marjorie Taylor Greene \ud83c\uddfa\ud83c\uddf8 (@mtgreenee) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/mtgreenee\/status\/1364629450000896002?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">February 24, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>However, Republicans like Greene said it could infringe on religious freedom and other rights.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Equality Act completely destroys women\u2019s rights, girls\u2019 rights, women\u2019s sports, and religious freedoms,\u201d Greene noted. \u201cI hope that every colleague of mine will put aside their political party differences and realize that voting on the Equality Act is the wrong thing to do.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Greene believes the Equality Act expands governmental regulatory reach.
