In 2021, Ulta Beauty had <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ulta.com\/investor\/news-events\/press-releases\/detail\/147\/ulta-beauty-announces-fourth-quarter-fiscal-2021-results\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">$8.6 billion<\/a> in net sales. However, a recent YouTube video has enraged the makeup company&#8217;s female customers and sparked a boycott.<\/p>\n<p>Ulta&#8217;s YouTube account with 84,000 subscribers hosts an online series titled &#8220;The Beauty Of.&#8221; <\/p>\n<p>The first <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=og8UwAHPvYk&#038;list=PLFZAk62RPBg9ZcQ4qzKtdCRF-COLgSEjW&#038;index=2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">episode<\/a> of the online show featured: &#8220;Virgie Tovar \u2013 author, activist, and expert in weight-based discrimination \u2013 has taken her body back from a fatphobic society and is feeling the sun on her stomach once again.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The second episode was hosted by gender-fluid Latinx hairstylist David Lopez \u2013 who <a href=\"https:\/\/hellogiggles.com\/david-lopez-gender-norms-latinx-culture\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">switches<\/a> from &#8220;he\/him&#8221; preferred pronouns to &#8220;they\/them&#8221; pronouns based on what gender is selected at the time. Lopez has been non-binary and gender-fluid for two years. <\/p>\n<p>The episode also starred transgender activist Dylan Mulvaney to discuss &#8220;the good, the bad, and the silly moments that come with finding girlhood.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Mulvaney is a 25-year-old TikTok content creator who hosts a social media series titled &#8220;Days of Girlhood.&#8221; The &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/@dylanmulvaney?lang=en\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">dylanmulvaney<\/a>&#8221; TikTok account has more than 8.3 million followers and over 263 million likes.<\/p>\n<p>Mulvaney <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/CbBCPSmDhEM\/?hl=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">declared<\/a> that Mulvaney was a &#8220;girl&#8221; on March 12. In the social media post, Mulvaney mocked negative female stereotypes such as crying throughout the day and buying unaffordable dresses.<\/p>\n<p>On Mulvaney&#8217;s 188th day of &#8220;girlhood&#8221; in September, Mulvaney was a featured speaker at <a href=\"https:\/\/reduxx.info\/forbes-highlights-recently-transitioned-male-at-womens-summit\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Forbes Power Women\u2019s Summit<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Mulvaney&#8217;s latest <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/@dylanmulvaney\/video\/7154791967153474859?is_copy_url=1&#038;is_from_webapp=v1&#038;lang=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">TikTok video<\/a> features Mulvaney attempting to enter the <a href=\"https:\/\/disneyworld.disney.go.com\/shops\/magic-kingdom\/bibbidi-bobbidi-boutique-park\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique<\/a> at Walt Disney World. However, the beauty boutique based on the cartoon movie &#8220;Cinderella&#8221; only allows children ages 3 to 12 to enter. <\/p>\n<p>In the Ulta YouTube video, the gender-fluid man and transgender individual discuss girlhood, womanhood, and motherhood. <\/p>\n<p>The interview begins with Mulvaney claiming that some people upset with her &#8220;girlhood&#8221; series are transphobic. <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I get a lot of hate about calling myself a &#8216;girl&#8217; and not a &#8216;woman.&#8217; And because you know that term, they think I&#8217;m infantilizing myself or that you know, once you turn 18 you&#8217;re no longer a girl,&#8221; Mulvaney said. &#8220;So I think some of that&#8217;s rooted in transphobia.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I think in womanhood, I get shamed a lot for liking pink and liking glitter, and I\u2019m like, &#8216;Why does that bother you so much?&#8217; They think I\u2019m lowering their standard of being a woman.\u201d Mulvaney said, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/reduxx.info\/insulting-ulta-beauty-interview-features-two-males-discussing-motherhood-girlhood\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Reduxx<\/a> \u2013 a feminist and pro-woman news website.<\/p>\n<p>Lopez \u2013 who is a biological male \u2013 replied, &#8220;Misogyny. Patriarchy.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Ulta released a 15-second video clip on its official Twitter account with nearly 700,000 followers. <\/p>\n<p>Mulvaney \u2013 a biological male \u2013 declared, &#8220;I know I can find love, I know I can still be a performer, I know I can have a family.
