He appeared in a Los Angeles County court on Oct. 14.<\/p>\n<p>The Los Angeles County District Attorney\u2019s office has accused Yu of stealing personal identifying information of poll workers. The office alleged that such data was stored on servers in China, in violation of Konnech\u2019s contract with Los Angeles County.<\/p>\n<p>Superior Court of Los Angeles County Judge Victoria Wilson ruled that Yu be released on a $500,000 bond and remain in house arrest until his next hearing, which is set for Nov. 17. Yu was ordered to remain in Los Angeles County and wear an ankle monitor.<\/p>\n<p>Donning a gray suit with metal-rimmed glasses and a white N95 mask, the 64-year-old CEO seemed to be in good spirits in the courtroom, where he appeared together with his four lawyers.<\/p>\n<p> \u2018Astounding\u2019 Data Breach <\/p>\n<p>Los Angeles County Deputy District Attorney Eric Neff alleged in court that the amount of data involved in the breach was \u201castounding,\u201d adding that \u201cthis is probably the largest data breach in United States history.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In Los Angeles alone, there were \u201cprobably thousands of victims,\u201d Neff alleged. \u201cThey have contracts all over the country.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He alleged that many minors\u2019 data had been compromised because during the 2020 election, in the midst of the pandemic, the government had encouraged them to work at poll stations in order for the elderly, who comprise a large portion of poll workers, to stay at home.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s \u201ca massive data breach,\u201d Neff said.<\/p>\n<p> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/Konnech-1200x800-1.jpeg\"><\/a> The office of Konnech Corporation in Okemos, Michigan, near Lansing, on Oct. 8, 2022. (Steven Kovac\/Epoch Times) <\/p>\n<p>Yu\u2019s lawyer, Janet Levine, rejected the allegations, saying there was no evidence of personal identifiable information being distributed.<\/p>\n<p>There\u2019s \u201cno breach in this case,\u201d Levine said.<\/p>\n<p>Neff argued against bail for Yu, a naturalized American who was born in China, for fear that he may be able to go back to China, where he lived for 33 years and had business operations. Yu\u2019s alleged crimes, he said, pose \u201ca broad danger to the community.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe has extensive friends and family contacts out there,\u201d the prosecutor said. \u201cThe company is still operating, still uses Chinese contractors to conduct its business,\u201d he alleged.<\/p>\n<p>Levine rebuffed allegations that Yu had extensive ties in China, calling it \u201cdisingenuous.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s all \u201cshenanigans,\u201d she said. She noted that Yu doesn\u2019t have a Chinese passport and has lived in the United States for most of his adult life.<\/p>\n<p>Neff confirmed that Yu\u2019s U.S. passport is in their possession.<\/p>\n<p> Prosecution\u2019s Allegations <\/p>\n<p>Konnech first began supplying poll worker management software to Los Angeles County in 2019.
