Working for <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/NYGovCuomo?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@NYGovCuomo<\/a>. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/mtM1VYXxSH\">https:\/\/t.co\/mtM1VYXxSH<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Lindsey Boylan (@LindseyBoylan) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/LindseyBoylan\/status\/1335282911331950596?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">December 5, 2020<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span>She continued to say that \u201cIf people weren\u2019t deathly afraid of him, they\u2019d be saying the same thing and you\u2019d already know the stories.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cSeriously, the messages and texts I receive when I speak the truth about this\u2026it\u2019s a whole book of people who have been harmed,\u201d she continued. \u201cDon\u2019t be surprised that it\u2019s the same small group of white people sitting alongside him at every presser. The same group that he has had by him the whole time, doing his dirty work. If you\u2019re not one of those handful, your life working for him is endlessly dispiriting. I tried to quit three times before it stuck. I\u2019ve worked hard my whole life. Hustled \u2013 fake it till you make it style. That environment is beyond toxic. I\u2019m still unwrapping it years later in therapy!\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Responding to one comment which read, \u201cMy ex girlfriend\u2019s mother used to work for him and she would end every day in tears because he is such a megalomaniac,\u201d Boylan wrote, \u201cThis is a universal story. He is a total a**hole surrounded by enablers.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>She also recalled witnessing Cuomo \u201cdemolishing\u201d someone on the phone, who turned out to be a \u201cfamous reporter.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">It freaked me out. If a reporter is just gonna \u201ctake it,\u201d from this asshole, how is anyone ever going to be able to speak out against him?<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Lindsey Boylan (@LindseyBoylan) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/LindseyBoylan\/status\/1335304006189649920?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">December 5, 2020<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>December 13, 2020<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span>Then, as<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/sexual-misconduct-allegations-surface-against-potential-biden-attorney-general-pick-andrew-cuomo\"><span>reported<\/span><\/a> <span>by the Daily Wire, Boylan accused Cuomo of sexually harassing her \u201cfor years.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cYes, @NYGovCuomo sexually harassed me for years. Many saw it, and watched,\u201d she said. \u201cI could never anticipate what to expect: would I be grilled on my work (which was very good) or harassed about my looks. Or would it be both in the same conversation? This was the way for years.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cNot knowing what to expect what\u2019s the most upsetting part aside from knowing that no one would do a damn thing even when they saw it. No one. And I *know* I am not the only woman,\u201d she continued. \u201cI\u2019m angry to be put in this situation at all. That because I am a woman, I can work hard my whole life to better myself and help others and yet still fall victim as countless women over generations have. Mostly silently. I hate that some men, like @NYGovCuomo abuse their power.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>At the time, Cuomo was reportedly being considered as Biden\u2019s pick for attorney general.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>December 14, 2020<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span>Cuomo<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/cuomo-responds-to-sexual-misconduct-allegations-a-woman-has-the-right-to-express-her-opinion\"><span>denied<\/span><\/a> <span>the allegations.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cYeah, I heard about the tweet and what it said about comments that I had made and it\u2019s not true,\u201d he said. \u201cLook, I fought for and I believe a woman has the right to come forward and express her opinion and express issues and concerns that she has, but it\u2019s just not true.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>February 24<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span>Boylan published a piece on <a href=\"https:\/\/medium.com\/@lindseyboylan4NY\/my-story-of-working-with-governor-cuomo-e664d4814b4e\">Medium<\/a> titled, \u201cMy story of working with Governor Cuomo,\u201d which began with the line \u201c\u2018Let\u2019s play strip poker.\u2019\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cI should have been shocked by the Governor\u2019s crude comment, but I wasn\u2019t,\u201d wrote Boylan, saying that Cuomo made this comment while flying on a taxpayer-funded jet alongside his press aide and a state trooper.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cGovernor Andrew Cuomo has created a culture within his administration where sexual harassment and bullying is so pervasive that it is not only condoned but expected. His inappropriate behavior toward women was an affirmation that he liked you, that you must be doing something right. He used intimidation to silence his critics. And if you dared to speak up, you would face consequences,\u201d Boylan continued. \u201cThat\u2019s why I panicked on the morning of December 13.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Boylan explained her decision to discuss the atmosphere in Cuomo\u2019s administration, saying that \u201ca former Cuomo staffer confided to me that she, too, had been the subject of the Governor\u2019s workplace harassment,\u201d and that \u201cAndrew Cuomo abused his power as Governor to sexually harass me, just as he had done with so many other women.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>She then referenced Assembly Member Ron Kim, who asserted last week that Cuomo had<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/dem-accused-cuomo-threat-destroy-him-latest-governor-bullying-behavior\"><span>threatened<\/span><\/a> <span>to \u201cdestroy\u201d him, and that New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio had stated that Cuomo\u2019s bullying \u201cis nothing new.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201c<\/span><span>I expect the Governor and his top aides will attempt to further disparage me, just as they\u2019ve done with Assembly Member Kim. They\u2019d lose their jobs if they didn\u2019t protect him. That\u2019s how his administration works. I know because I was a part of it,\u201d Boylan wrote.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>She then began to describe her history in the Cuomo administration, joining state government in 2015 and being quickly promoted to Chief of Staff at the state economic development agency. After being appointed, a friend warned her: \u201cBe careful around the Governor.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>She wrote of being told by her boss that Cuomo had a \u201ccrush\u201d on her, and that \u201c<\/span><span>Stephanie Benton, Director of the Governor\u2019s Offices, told me in an email on December 14, 2016 that the Governor suggested I look up images of Lisa Shields \u2014 his rumored former girlfriend \u2014 because \u2018we could be sisters\u2019 and I was \u2018the better looking sister.\u2019 The Governor began calling me \u2018Lisa\u2019 in front of colleagues. It was degrading.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cI had complained to friends that the Governor would go out of his way to touch me on my lower back, arms and legs,\u201d she continued. \u201cHis senior staff began keeping tabs on my whereabouts.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Later, she stated that Cuomo \u201ckissed me on the lips\u201d after a \u201cone-on-one briefing with the Governor to update him on economic and infrastructure projects.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>After saying that she resigned on September 26, 2018, Boylan wrote, \u201cThere is a part of me that will never forgive myself for being a victim for so long, for trying to ignore behavior that I knew was wrong. The Governor exploited my weaknesses, my desire to do good work and to be respected. I was made to believe this was the world I needed to survive in.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cIt was all so normalized \u2014 particularly by Melissa DeRosa and other top women around him \u2014 that only now do I realize how insidious his abuse was,\u201d Boylan added.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>After the Medium piece was released, Megyn Kelly shared the post on Twitter, saying \u201cThis is so damned brave of her,\u201d and that Cuomo is \u201ca disgusting bully.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">This is so damned brave of her. He is a disgusting bully.<br \/>I\u2019m sure CNN will be all over this tonight \u2013 just as they aggressively covered any allegs made against male Fox News anchors\/reporters.
