The ancient artwork could be part of a bathhouse,\u00a0 but archaeologists are still uncertain.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe can\u2019t identify the type of the building, whether it\u2019s a public bathhouse or something else, because we have not finished excavating yet,\u201d Saad said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Trojan War was a legendary conflict that possibly happened over 3,000 years ago after Paris, a Trojan, ran away with Helen, the wife of Greek King Menelaus, igniting a ten-year siege of Troy and featuring figures like Achilles, Ajax, \u00a0Hector, and Ulysses. <\/p>\n<p>The Greeks were eventually able to conquer Troy because of the wiles of Ulysses, who devised a plan to smuggle in troops into the city through a large wooden horse designed to look like a sacrifice to a god.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Ancient academics, like Herodotus, the \u201cFather of History,\u201d and the mathematician Eratosthenes, have <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/culture\/article\/20200106-did-the-trojan-war-actually-happen\">treated<\/a> the Trojan War as a historical event, and there has been some archeological evidence to support the stories \u2014 mainly the <a href=\"https:\/\/whc.unesco.org\/en\/list\/849\/#:~:text=Troy%2C%20with%20its%204%2C000%20years,archaeologist%20Heinrich%20Schliemann%20in%201870.\">discovery<\/a> of Troy in 1870 by Heinrich Schliemann and Frank Calvert.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The depiction of the war found in Rastan dates back to Roman settlement of the area. In recent years, it became the target of Syrian rebels.
