That section states, \u201cNASCAR requires its Competitor(s) to race at 100% of their ability with the goal of achieving their best possible finishing position in the Event.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It adds, \u201cAny Competitor(s) who takes action with the intent to Artificially Alter the finishing positions of the Event of encourages, persuades or induces others to Artificially Alter the finishing positions of the Event shall be subject to a penalty from NASCAR, as specified in Section 10 Violations and Disciplinary Action.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The section concludes, \u201c\u2018Artificially Alter\u2019 shall be defined as actions by any Competitor(s) that show or suggest that the Competitor(s) did not race at 100% of their ability for the purpose of changing finishing positions in the Event, in NASCAR\u2019s sole discretion.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_6013\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-6013\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-6013\" src=\"https:\/\/www.boundingintosports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/Bob-Pockrass1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"401\" height=\"843\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.boundingintosports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/Bob-Pockrass1.png 401w, https:\/\/www.boundingintosports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/Bob-Pockrass1-143x300.png 143w\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-6013\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Bob Pockrass Twitter<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Specifically, NASCAR fined Custer and his crew chief Michael Shiplett $100,000 each. Custer and his No. 41 team were also docked 50 points in both the driver and owner standings. Shiplett was also indefinitely suspended.<\/p>\n<p>NASCAR\u2019s Steve Miller explained the punishment, \u201cWhen we got to the audio, and had the crew chief telling the driver that, \u2018I think you got a flat (tire). Certainly on super high alert for the playoffs, and had this been the determining factor in the 14 making it into the Round of 8 or not, our reaction certainly would have been bigger.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"video-block full\">\n<div class=\"video-player youtube\">[embedded content]<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Childers reacted to NASCAR\u2019s ruling writing on Twitter, \u201cNow officially ok for a teammate to manipulate the championship race at Phoenix as long as no one says anything on the radio..\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He added, \u201cEven if there is live SMT data showing a guy running half throttle on the straights and jamming the brakes getting in each corner..
