The card came after the nurse had allegedly attempted to kill the child three times before succeeding on the fourth attempt.<\/p>\n<p>Although the child was doing well until Letby \u201cgot her hands on her,\u201d prosecuting attorney Nick Johnson asserted, after that the baby vomited and exhibited breathing problems. He added, \u201cIt was persistent, it was calculated and it was cold-blooded,\u201d as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/article-11309843\/Cold-blooded-nurse-Lucy-Letby-murdered-baby-girl-fourth-attempt-sent-sympathy-card.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Daily Mail<\/a> reported.<\/p>\n<p>Letby allegedly injected babies with insulin, air or overfed them with milk at night when the parents were not present.<\/p>\n<p>Johnson also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/news\/liverpool-news\/police-find-note-saying-i-25252240\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">showed the jury<\/a> an image of a\u00a0yellow Post-it note kept by Letby. He declared that she wrote, \u201cI don\u2019t deserve to live. I killed them on purpose because I\u2019m not good enough,\u201d \u201cI am a horrible evil person,\u201d and in capital letters, \u201cI AM EVIL I DID THIS.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Johnson concluded, \u201cWell, ladies and gentlemen, that in a nutshell is your task in this case. Whether or not she did these dreadful things is the decision you will have to make when you have heard all the evidence.\u201d<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Police investigating the murders of seven babies found a note in the home of neo-natal nurse Lucy Letby saying &#8216;I am evil, I did this&#8217;, a jury heard this morning.<a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/EggAmV6fWf\">https:\/\/t.co\/EggAmV6fWf<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Dan Haygarth (@DanHaygarth1) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/DanHaygarth1\/status\/1580531676819558401?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">October 13, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The prosecution at Letby\u2019s trail claimed she tried to kill twins more than once and in June 2016 murdered two babies who were part of triplets while the third baby survived.<\/p>\n<p>In the case of the first child Letby is alleged to have murdered, the prosecution claimed she first injected air into the baby\u2019s stomach before trying twice more. After the third attempt the baby was transferred to another unit, making a substantial recovery, but then was returned to Letby\u2019s care where the baby collapsed and needed cardiac compressions.<\/p>\n<p>When the parents arrived after the baby\u2019s death, they were asked if they wanted to bathe their baby. Johnson related that as the baby\u2019s mother \u201cbathed her recently departed child, Letby came into the room and, in the words of the mother, was \u2018smiling and kept going on about how she was present at Child I\u2019s first bath and how much [the child] had loved it.\u2019\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA post mortem revealed that all the loops in the infant\u2019s bowel were significantly dilated due to increased air content,\u201d The Daily Mail reported.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe suggest that it is highly significant that children within the orbit of Lucy Letby persistently and consistently suffered unexplained collapses,\u201d Johnson contended.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSometimes the evidence of her hand at work is more obvious than others and it is remarkable that on many occasions when children who had suffered unexpected spectacular and life-threatening collapses were removed from her orbit, they had exceptional recoveries,\u201d he asserted.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A British nurse who has been accused of murdering seven premature babies allegedly sent a condolence card to the parents of one of the babies she is charged with killing.
