But this also means they&#8217;re subject to recalls when something goes wrong and puts the public&#8217;s safety at risk.<span aria-hidden=\"true\">ae0fcc31ae342fd3a1346ebb1f342fcb<\/span><\/p>\n<p>On June 30, <a rel=\"noopener noreferrer external nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.globenewswire.com\/news-release\/2022\/06\/30\/2472579\/0\/en\/Enjoy-Life-Natural-Brands-LLC-Conducts-Nationwide-Voluntary-Recall-of-Select-Bakery-Products-Due-to-Potential-Presence-of-Foreign-Material.html\" target=\"_blank\">Enjoy Life Natural Brands<\/a> LLC announced it was voluntarily recalling 13 of its baked snack products, including different varieties and flavors of soft-baked cookies, chewy bars, &#8220;breakfast ovals,&#8221; and brownie bites sold at Walmart, Kroger, and Wegmans, as well as online on Amazon. The company said it pulled the products from shelves &#8220;out of an abundance of caution&#8221; after its own internal surveillance discovered there could potentially be <a rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/bestlifeonline.com\/enjoy-life-recall-snack-news\/\" target=\"_blank\">hard plastic pieces<\/a> in the affected items.<\/p>\n<p>Another recall was issued on July 20 when <a rel=\"noopener noreferrer external nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.traderjoes.com\/home\/announcements?category=recalls&#038;id=1351820848\" target=\"_blank\">Trader Joe&#8217;s<\/a> posted an alert on its website about its <a rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/bestlifeonline.com\/trader-joes-snickerdoodle-cookie-recall-news\/\" target=\"_blank\">Soft-Baked Snickerdoodles<\/a>. The warning was part of a recall expansion by Enjoy Life Natural Brands, as they produce the cookies and also could contain &#8220;hard plastic pieces.&#8221; In all cases, customers were urged not the eat the treats and to throw them out or return them to their place of purchase.<\/p>\n<p>Even snack cakes have been subject to recent health alerts. On June 8, the FDA announced that <a rel=\"noopener noreferrer external nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.fda.gov\/safety\/recalls-market-withdrawals-safety-alerts\/prairie-city-bakery-recalls-peanut-butter-chocolate-chip-ooey-gooey-butter-cakes-because-possible\" target=\"_blank\">Prairie City Bakery<\/a> voluntarily recalled 50,220 units of its Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Ooey Gooey Butter Cake. It was one of the many products pulled from shelves in connection to a sprawling recall issued by <a rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/bestlifeonline.com\/news-prairie-city-snack-cakes\/\" target=\"_blank\">J.M. Smucker Co.<\/a> for <em>Salmonella<\/em> contamination issues with its Jif peanut butter. The affected items were distributed to stores across the U.S., Canada, and Mexico from Sept. 26, 2022, through Oct. 6, 2022.<\/p>\n<p>According to the agency&#8217;s notice, the affected items include Mrs. Freshley&#8217;s Apple Fruit Pie, Mrs. Freshley&#8217;s Cherry Fruit Pie, Tastykake Glazed Apple Pie, Tastykake Glazed Caramel Apple Pie, Tastykake Glazed Cherry Pie, and Tastykake Glazed Lemon Flavored Pie. The Tastykake Variety Glazed Pie Shipper is also included, which contains Tastykake Glazed Apple Pie, Tastykake Glazed Cherry Pie, and Tastykake Glazed Lemon Flavored Pie.<\/p>\n<p>The recalled products are all marked with either an &#8220;Enjoy By&#8221; date of 10\/28\/2022 through 11\/07\/2022 and\/or product codes 307 2263 through 307 2274. As a known food allergen, the FDA warns that some customers &#8220;run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction&#8221; by consuming the product.<\/p>\n<p>According to the FDA, the <a rel=\"noopener noreferrer external nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.fda.gov\/food\/food-allergensgluten-free-guidance-documents-regulatory-information\/food-allergen-labeling-and-consumer-protection-act-2004-questions-and-answers\" target=\"_blank\">Food Allergen Labeling and Consumer Protection Act<\/a> (FALCPA) is a law that requires all major food allergens to be listed on any food product&#8217;s packaging that the agency regulates.
