The case was brought forward by the families of the Sandy Hook massacre in 2012. The jury decided that Jones would pay $965 million in\u00a0&#8220;fair, just, and reasonable&#8221; damages.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The payments will go to numerous families of victims of the massacre. Jones claimed that the shooting was orchestrated and that family members were actors who faked the tragedy, a Connecticut jury said on Wednesday.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The amount that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/legal\/jury-begins-third-day-deliberations-alex-jones-sandy-hook-defamation-trial-2022-10-12\/\">Jones <\/a>and Free Speech Systems are ordered to pay, per plaintiff, is:<br \/>$120 million\u00a0<br \/>$55 million,<br \/>$54 million<br \/>$28.8 million<br \/>$57.6 million<br \/>$73.6 million<br \/>$81.6 million<br \/>$52 million\u00a0<br \/>$48 million<br \/>$66 million<br \/>$57.6 million<br \/>$68.8 million<br \/>$90 million<br \/>$76 million<br \/>$36 million<\/p>\n<p>A judge last year found Jones and Infowars&#8217; parent company Free Speech Systems liable in the defamation lawsuit.<\/p>\n<p>Prosecutors sought $550 million for a group of parents who accused Jones of spreading lies about the shooting. Jurors determined the amount of money that was to be awarded.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The plaintiffs&#8217; attorney, Chris Mattei, asked the six jurors to &#8220;think about the scale of the defamation,&#8221; citing as one example Jones&#8217; claim the families, &#8220;faked their 6- or 7-year-old&#8217;s death,&#8221; reports <a href=\"https:\/\/abcnews.go.com\/US\/jury-reaches-verdict-alex-jones-pay-sandy-hook\/story?id=91399930\">ABC.<\/a><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\"><\/blockquote>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Defense attorney Norm Pattis told jurors it was not their job to bankrupt Jones so he would stop broadcasting lies,&#8221; they wrote.<\/p>\n<p>This is the second multimillion-dollar verdict against Jones in just two months. In August, Jones<a href=\"https:\/\/thepostmillennial.com\/alex-jones-ordered-to-pay-4-1-million-to-sandy-hook-family-in-defamation-case\"> was ordered to pay millions<\/a> to Sandy Hook parents in a case in Austin, Texas, where he operates InfoWars from.<\/p>\n<p>The verdict was delivered after three weeks of testimony.<\/p>\n<p>In a live video reaction on Infowars, Jones called the verdict a &#8220;political joke,&#8221; and said, &#8220;They actually believe they&#8217;re getting this money.
