He initiated a new-world genocide, that\u2019s what he did,\u201d Popovich ranted in a 2021 press conference. \u201cBeginning with him, and what he said would follow, the annihilation of every indigenous person in Hispaniola, which was Haiti and the Dominican Republic today.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"a8d-pre\">\u201cHe took slaves, he mutilated, he murdered, and we\u2019re going to say \u2018slash\u2019 and honor him?\u2026 It\u2019s Columbus Day, that\u2019s why they (schools) are off on Monday? Maybe there\u2019s something I\u2019m missing and I\u2019m ignorant, but it makes me feel like they\u2019re living in a phone booth, and they\u2019re educating our kids.
