He got hooked on\u2014like many families have had happen, hooked on drugs. He\u2019s overcome that. He\u2019s established a new life.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Biden added that he is \u201cconfident\u201d that what his son \u201csays and does are consistent with what happens.\u201d To provide an example, he pointed to his son\u2019s memoir \u201cBeautiful Things\u201d and said Hunter Biden was \u201cstraightforward\u201d in his book.<\/p>\n<p> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/GettyImages-1233045326-1200x800-1200x800-1.jpg\"><\/a> Hunter Biden walks to Marine One on the Ellipse outside the White House in Washington on May 22, 2021. (Brendan Smialowski\/AFP via Getty Images) <\/p>\n<p>The president defended his son over allegations that Hunter Biden lied on a background check before buying a handgun in October 2018.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis thing about a gun\u2014I didn\u2019t know anything about it,\u201d Biden said. \u201cBut turns out that when he made application to purchase a gun, what happened was \u2026 you get asked a question, are you on drugs, or do use drugs? He said no.
