He has pleaded not guilty.<\/p>\n<p>According to\u00a0Auten, the $1 million offer was made when he and Steele met with a group of top FBI agents overseas in October 2021. At the time of the meeting, the agents were trying to\u00a0corroborate claims Steele had made that\u00a0Trump\u2019s campaign was colluding with Russia in order to win the election.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYes, it did,\u201d Auten told Durham when asked if the FBI offered Steele any incentive to provide evidence to back up his claims.<\/p>\n<p> <a href=\"https:\/\/img.theepochtimes.com\/assets\/uploads\/2022\/05\/18\/07302018-DSC02463-john-durham-sussmann_1-1-1200x800.jpg\"><\/a> Special counsel John Durham arrives at federal court in Washington on May 18, 2022. (Teng Chen\/The Epoch Times) FBI Offered \u2018Anywhere up to a Million Dollars\u2019 <\/p>\n<p>\u201cMr. Steele was offered anywhere up to a million dollars\u201d for information \u201cwhich could help prove the allegations,\u201d Auten added.<\/p>\n<p>However, Auten said that the FBI\u00a0ultimately never paid the money to Steele because he was unable to\u00a0substantiate the claims made in his dossier.
