A plurality of independents said the Department of Justice (DOJ) and FBI were \u201ctoo political, corrupt, and not to be trusted.\u201d More than half of Hispanics surveyed, or 55 percent, in the poll of 1,092 likely voters \u2014 a similar sample size to the group\u2019s poll out Tuesday \u2014 said they believed the DOJ\u2019s investigation of former President Donald Trump is politically motivated. <\/p>\n<p>Both polls came in the aftermath of the FBI\u2019s unprecedented raid of the former president\u2019s Florida residence by roughly 30 agents in early August. A federal magistrate judge signed off on the search, ostensibly regarding potential violations of the Presidential Records Act, but it possesses all the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/08\/19\/think-the-fbi-deserves-the-benefit-of-the-doubt-this-laundry-list-of-corruption-should-make-you-think-again\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">hallmarks<\/a>\u00a0of the routine witch hunt operations used to go after Trump from within the agency for the past six years.<\/p>\n<p>Days after the raid, Attorney General Merrick Garland professed in a press conference that he had personally signed off on it. The raid, Garland said at the time, was \u201cnarrowly scope[d],\u201d though\u00a0an <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/08\/12\/breaking-fbi-raid-warrant-demanded-seizure-of-literally-any-record-trump-ever-saw-during-4-year-presidential-term\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">examination<\/a>\u00a0of the warrant shows authorization to confiscate any and all documents Trump may have come into contact with as president.<\/p>\n<p><strong>[READ: <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/08\/29\/redacted-mar-a-lago-affidavit-confirms-bidens-doj-fished-for-a-crime-to-pin-on-trump\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Redacted Mar-A-Lago Affidavit Confirms Biden\u2019s DOJ Fished For A Crime To Pin On Trump<\/a>]<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In 2017, Trump <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/08\/09\/conflict-of-interest-much-garland-oversees-raid-on-president-who-denied-him-scotus-seat\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">revoked<\/a> Garland\u2019s nomination to the Supreme Court after the new president was sworn into office. Justice Neil Gorsuch was appointed instead.<\/p>\n<p>Last week, the FBI <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/10\/06\/fbi-raids-another-pro-lifers-home-in-federal-prosecution-against-11-peaceful-opponents-of-state-sponsored-child-killings\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">raided<\/a> the home of a Tennessee pro-life activist and charged 10 more defendants over protests at an abortion facility. Nationwide firebombings at pro-life centers, on the other hand, have yet to result in similar prosecution.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt took a month and a half and a pressure campaign from concerned congressional leaders and senators to get the FBI to even say it was \u2018investigating\u2019 these attacks,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/09\/26\/fbi-raids-pro-lifers-home-arrests-him-in-front-of-his-kids-after-ignoring-pro-abortion-terrorism\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reported<\/a> The Federalist\u2019s Elle Purnell. <\/p>\n<p>The pair of surveys both contradict Democrats\u2019 hysterical claims that Republicans are an existential threat to Democracy itself, while Democrats, meanwhile, explicitly weaponize the levers of law enforcement against their political opponents.
