The 2014 drama \u201cUnbroken,\u201d directed by Angelina Jolie, did the same to its subject. Jolie honored the remarkable story of Louis Zamperini, the World War II prisoner who overcame insurmountable odds, but neglected to include the faith journey found in Laura Hillenbrand\u2019s bestselling book by the same name.<\/p>\n<p>The team behind \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/watch.salemnow.com\/series\/lK3lF10cUf4r-washingtons-armor?channel=new-releases\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Washington\u2019s Armor<\/a>,\u201d however, refused to whitewash George Washington\u2019s belief in a higher power.<\/p>\n<p>The new film, showing at SalemNOW, is set 20 years before the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/human-remains-artifacts-found-at-revolutionary-war-battlefield-site-in-new-jersey\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Revolutionary War<\/a> and is based on the book \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Bulletproof-George-Washington-David-Barton\/dp\/1932225005\/ref=pd_lpo_1?pd_rd_i=1932225005&amp;psc=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Bullet Proof George Washington<\/a>\u201d by historian David Barton.<\/p>\n<p>A young Washington (Willie Mellina) as both English and French forces battle over land soon to be part of the grand American experiment.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHistory needs to be told and preserved,\u201d says \u201cWashington\u2019s Armor\u201d director Tammy Lane in a statement. \u201d[George Washington] wasn\u2019t perfect, but he was a man of faith who persevered during difficult circumstances. Those around him knew there was something different about him, but Washington knew it was God who kept him protected. He lived out his faith in a remarkable way.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Salem Media Group CEO David Santrella tells The Daily Wire the movie\u2019s faith focus made it a snug fit for his young streaming platform.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe don\u2019t want to ignore important spiritual elements of a person\u2019s life like some studios do-especially when it\u2019s so important to the overall story of that person and what motivated them,\u201d says Santrella.<\/p>\n<p>The film explores Washington\u2019s love of country and faith, as well as a humility which set the foundation for a nation that could have embraced royal-like leadership.<\/p>\n<p>Washington is hardly an unfamiliar figure to most Americans. The new film touches on the sense that the country\u2019s first president had a \u201cGod-given destiny,\u201d Santrella says, a part of his legacy most mainstream movie studios likely wouldn\u2019t touch.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mountvernon.org\/george-washington\/religion\/8-facts-about-george-washington-and-religion\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Washington visited churches during the Revolutionary War,<\/a> attending places of worship whenever possible during his travels. He later declared that he would not have signed the Constitution had it not embraced religious freedom.<\/p>\n<p>Tinsel Town often uses history to preach about the present. It might be the talent behind a fact-based story blasting current GOP leaders or projects like David O. Russell\u2019s \u201cAmsterdam\u201d which suggests a new wave of fascism is cresting over America\u2019s shores.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWashington\u2019s Armor,\u201d according to Santrella, sticks to the historical facts. That doesn\u2019t mean the nation\u2019s first president doesn\u2019t offer lessons we all could absorb.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs Christians we believe in some sense that all of our leaders \u2014 the good and the bad ones \u2014 are all chosen by God. Sometimes he gives us good leaders that we don\u2019t deserve and sometimes he gives us bad ones that we do,\u201d says Santrella. \u201cSo in one sense God is always guiding human affairs, but George Washington had a civility that we can all learn from today.<\/p>\n<p>Like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/watch\/browse\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">DailyWire+<\/a>,\u00a0SalemNOW is just one of several newer platforms to offer faith-friendly, woke-free content for consumers exhausted by mainstream Hollywood messaging. Santrella\u2019s platform offers films, videos and exclusive content, like Salem radio star Dennis Prager\u2019s series on Rosh Hashanah services.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/watch\/browse\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">DailyWire+<\/a> offers exclusive content like original movies, groundbreaking documentaries, podcasts from leading personalities like Ben Shapiro, Matt Walsh, Candace Owens, Andrew Klavan, Michael Knowles, and leading public intellectual Dr. Jordan Peterson.<\/p>\n<p>Santrella says major platforms are opening up opportunities for newer platforms to draw a bigger crowd. Big tech censorship, and platforms that ignore Red State denizens, only help his platform.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf Netflix and Amazon continue down the paths they\u2019re on, of censoring content and limiting points of view, we\u2019ll have an abundance of riches,\u201d he says. \u201cIn the mean time we\u2019re enjoying their censorship and benefiting from it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.realclearinvestigations.com\/articles\/2021\/04\/08\/denied_equal_opportunity_in_the_market_conservative_filmmakers_are_starting_to_fight_back_771685.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Amazon temporarily blocked \u201cCreated Equal: Clarence Thomas in His Own Words\u201d<\/a> in 2021.
