She is the District Equity Coordinator, after all. She\u2019s also the sister-in-law of woke Dane County District Attorney Ismael Ozanne. In a statement to district residents, Nichols wrote that her resignation would be effective immediately.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Explaining the incident that led to her departure, the equity coordinator wrote, \u201cOn September 13, 2022, while addressing a concern that a student had said the \u2018n word\u2019 [sic] to another student, I asked a clarifying question in which I stated the full word. While I immediately recognized my mistake and apologized, I acknowledge the impact that hearing this word can have.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Nichols, who pushed an antiracism agenda in the suburban Madison school district, claims that in her 33 years of education, she \u201cnever used a racial slur against a student or any other human being.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am disappointed that this situation has turned into what it has, and I have nothing but compassion in my heart for the students, families, and staff who have been impacted by this situation,\u201d Nichols wrote in her\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/empowerwisconsin.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/Screenshot-2022-10-04-at-9.27.24-PM.png\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">resignation statement.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>That may be true, but saying the \u201cN-word\u201d \u2014 even in the course of attempting to clarify what a student said \u2014 is a fireable offense in zero-tolerance woke schools. Just ask\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/us-news\/2019\/oct\/20\/wisconsin-school-guard-marlon-anderson-fired-repeating-racial-slur\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Marlon Anderson<\/a>, a black security guard at West High School in Madison who was fired in 2019.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShort story \u2026 I get called a\u00a0bit@# @ss Ni\u20ac\u20acA [sic] by a student, I responded do \u2018not call me ni\u20ac\u20aca!\u2019 [sic] And I got fired,\u201d Anderson wrote in a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/marlon.anderson.3914\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Facebook post<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Now the standards are coming for Nichols, who is white. \u201cThe MHS administration is aware that many of our students and staff are asking a lot of questions regarding the next steps regarding the use of a racial epithet, the N-word at MHS,\u201d wrote Principal Jeff Finstad and Associate Principal Sarah Busalacchi in an email obtained by Empower Wisconsin. \u201cWe also want to reiterate that the staff at McFarland High School and the District does not tolerate the use of racial epithets or slurs or any type of harassment based on race. Those are words that should not be spoken at MHS by anyone at any time while attending MHS.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Superintendent Aaron Tarnutzer did not return several emails from Empower Wisconsin. Nor did a school board member. But Tarnutzer informed district residents of Nichols\u2019 resignation via email.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am sending this email on behalf of the McFarland School District to inform you that during the school board meeting last night the McFarland School Board accepted Anne Nichols\u2019 resignation from the McFarland School District,\u201d the superintendent wrote. \u201cI know there will be a variety of reactions to this announcement. I ask that you please be respectful of the reactions others may have.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In all of their emails, district officials say they cannot discuss the matter because it involves a personnel issue. Parents have been particularly frustrated by what they said was a lack of communication.<\/p>\n<p>Tarnutzer said the district will be hiring an interim associate principal for the remainder of the school year and hiring a long-term replacement this spring. The superintendent and the director of teaching and learning will coordinate the \u201cimplementation of the district\u2019s educational equity efforts\u201d for the remainder of the school year. McFarland also is exploring options for long-term equity leadership to begin after the school year.<\/p>\n<p>This district is all-in on the left-wing equity agenda. The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mcfarland.k12.wi.us\/district\/District-Equity.cfm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">District Equity Work page<\/a> on the school system\u2019s website screams its \u201canti-racism\u201d agenda.<\/p>\n<p>Nichols helped land the district a prestigious $1 million grant for \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mcfarland.k12.wi.us\/7-18-22%20WPP-CIG%20Grant-Update%20for%20board%20July%202022.pdf\">Supporting the Social Emotional Health of K-12 African American Students<\/a>.\u201d\u00a0The five-year community project \u2014 with the University of Wisconsin partner, Wisconsin Center for Education Research \u2014 aims to \u201cimprove educational outcomes for diverse student populations, impact education practice positively and foster collaborations among academic disciplines and practitioners.\u201d It\u2019s steeped in critical race theory and hateful \u201canti-racist\u201d dogma. It provides concentrated woke indoctrination for teachers, students, parents, and the community.<\/p>\n<p>A McFarland Schools parent who spoke with Empower Wisconsin said he\u2019s pleased to see Nichols stepping down.
