Humetewa, an Obama appointee, dismissed Ward\u2019s lawsuit which argued that handing over her phone records to the House Jan. 6 Committee would violate medical privacy laws and infringe on her constitutional rights.<\/p>\n<p>In her <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/judge-dismisses-bid-to-quash-jan-6-panel-subpoena-of-arizona-gop-party-chairs-phone-records_4752220.html\">ruling<\/a>, Humetewa concluded that the phone records \u201cmay aid\u201d the committee\u2019s investigation. Ward decided to appeal the decision and her attorney requested the court to temporarily block the subpoena issued by the Jan. 6 Committee while the appeal is pending.<\/p>\n<p>On Oct. 7, Humetewa refused the request, noting that the appeals court will only get to the case after the Jan. 6 committee is scheduled to dissolve on Jan. 3, 2023. Humetewa said that she found Ward\u2019s alleged concerns \u201cspeculative\u201d and \u201cdubious,\u201d according to the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/arizona-donald-trump-phoenix-subpoenas-congress-9b7bb658d6537c3ae1e674923b453814\">Associated Press<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>During a hearing, Ward\u2019s lawyers stated that their client had written a book about sending an alternate slate of presidential electors to Congress and also filmed several videos of her actions, uploading them on YouTube.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese actions belie Ms. Ward\u2019s concern that her communications with her constituents or colleagues will be chilled by [the phone company\u2019s] possible disclosure of who she spoke with during that time,\u201d the Judge wrote.<\/p>\n<p>The Jan. 6 committee is seeking phone records of Ward and her husband for the three months leading up to January 2021.
