Belle!) \u2013 a temporary condition which paralyzes one side of the face,\u201d Egan <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/CjYNPD0LdWh\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">wrote on Instagram<\/a>. \u201cI\u2019m told it\u2019s triggered by a virus, and it seems we have one of those lurking about.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI should make a full recovery, but like Justin Bieber (good company!), who announced a similar condition, I\u2019m unable to perform at this time, and thus will not be on tour with Disney Princess \u2013 The Concert this fall.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Bell\u2019s palsy is a condition that causes temporary facial paralysis. It\u2019s\u00a0\u201cthe most common cause of facial paralysis, although its exact cause is unknown,\u201d according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ninds.nih.gov\/Disorders\/Patient-Caregiver-Education\/Fact-Sheets\/Bells-Palsy-Fact-Sheet\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The condition\u2019s symptoms appear \u201csuddenly\u201d over the course of two to three days but can improve without treatment \u201cafter a few weeks.\u201d Recovery can take about six months in some cases.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-instagram wp-block-embed-instagram\"><\/figure>\n<p>Egan referred to Bieber\u2019s Ramsay Hunt Syndrome diagnosis, which caused him to have partial facial paralysis back in June. The pop star was forced to postpone his world tour following the diagnosis.<\/p>\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mountsinai.org\/health-library\/diseases-conditions\/ramsay-hunt-syndrome#:~:text=Ramsay%20Hunt%20syndrome%20is%20a,a%20nerve%20in%20the%20head.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">New York\u2019s Mount Sinai Hospital<\/a>, Ramsay Hunt syndrome is marked by\u00a0a painful rash around the ear, on the face, or on the mouth. It manifests when the varicella-zoster virus infects a nerve in the head, sometimes causing paralysis.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Even though Disney fanatics won\u2019t see Egan performing on stage, she\u2019s still going to be carrying out her duties as the executive producer behind the scenes. The tour is scheduled to begin on Oct. 20.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/10\/GettyImages-1243153473.jpg\"><\/a><figcaption>Susan Egan said she is unable to perform \u201cat this time,\u201d and will not be on tour with Disney Princess this fall.<\/figcaption><figcaption><span class=\"credit\">The Walt Disney Company via Gett<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cI will of course continue in my role as executive producer, alongside my amazing partners, working daily behind the scenes to bring you an absolutely incredible production,\u201d she added. <\/p>\n<p>Disney Concerts also shared the news of Egan\u2019s diagnosis <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/CjYNhVUuUob\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">on social media<\/a>, before announcing \u201cThat\u2019s So Raven\u201d star Anneliese van der Pol and actress Sarah Uriarte Berry will be joining the tour.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSusan will be continuing her daily producing work behind the scenes to bring our guests an incredible production,\u201d they wrote.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Broadway star Susan Egan revealed she\u2019s been diagnosed with Bell\u2019s palsy just weeks before she was due to head on tour.
