Womack, a former high school basketball star, was shot and killed by the suspect after she beat him in a pickup basketball game, they said. Dallas police issued an arrest warrant for the suspect earlier this week.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOn October 3, 2022, at approximately 7:40 p.m., Dallas Police were called to a shooting in the 4100 block of Hamilton Avenue,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/dpdbeat.com\/2022\/10\/04\/information-wanted-in-aggravated-assault-at-hamilton-ave\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">DPD<\/a> wrote in a statement on their website. \u201cThe preliminary investigation shows when officers arrived they found Asia Womack, 21, on the sidewalk with multiple gunshot wounds. Dallas Fire-Rescue responded and took Womack to an area hospital where she died. The investigation is ongoing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>DPD Crime Stoppers told local news outlets that they are offering a $5,000 reward for any information that leads to the arrest of the suspect.<\/p>\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fox4news.com\/news\/dallas-woman-21-shot-to-death-overbasketball-game\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Fox 4 Dallas<\/a>, Womack was playing a game of pickup basketball with the shooter at T.G. Terry Park, near her home in South Dallas. The two had been trash talking during the game, and she reportedly teased him afterward. After the game was over, the shooter took his children and brother home, then drove back to the park, where he shot her five times, the family said. Security cameras at a store near the basketball court reportedly captured the suspect\u2019s vehicle driving away from the scene. The family knows the suspect, but did not make his name public.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis was supposed to be a friend of Asia\u2019s. She\u2019s eaten with the man,\u201d Womack\u2019s mother, Andrea Womack, told Fox 4. \u201cShe\u2019s fed him, and he turned on her and killed her in a vicious way.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is so senseless,\u201d Pastor John Delley of the Faith Tabernacle Church of God In Christ told the outlet. \u201cYou become embarrassed basically because a female beat you in basketball.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy prayer is that justice be served,\u201d Delley added. \u201cThat he is found or that he will give up or turn himself in.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Womack was a high school basketball star at James Madison High School in Dallas. According to her NCSA recruiting profile, she averaged 15 points per game during her career. She dreamed of one day playing in the WNBA. According to her profile, she graduated in 2020. \u201cAsia loved basketball,\u201d Andrea Womack told CBS Dallas-Fort Worth. \u201cShe loved basketball to the point where she died doing what she loved.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Womack\u2019s family expressed their grief and their desire for justice to news outlets as well. \u201cWe\u2019re taking it kind of hard because it was senseless,\u201d Womack\u2019s aunt, Juanita Smith, told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcdfw.com\/news\/local\/dallas-police-investigating-shooting-death-of-21-year-old-woman\/3088811\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NBC Dallas-Fort Worth<\/a>. \u201cI just don\u2019t understand why you kill somebody over a basketball game.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI believe in forgiveness, but justice needs to be served,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c[It\u2019s] hard because it\u2019s my only sister,\u201d Alia Womack said.<\/p>\n<p>Dallas police issued a warrant for the suspect\u2019s arrest, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=XM_rEcBG4KQ\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CBS DFW<\/a> reported Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you know where he is, where his whereabouts are, please turn him in,\u201d Womack\u2019s mother told Fox 4. \u201cHelp the family out.
