That question is stirring now that anonymous people connected to the case are leaking to the Washington Post \u2014 leaks of investigative information and prosecutorial deliberations that are about as surprising as the fact that the Washington Post somehow manages <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/national-security\/2022\/10\/06\/hunter-biden-tax-gun-charges\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">to make its report<\/a> as much about Donald Trump as about the story\u2019s putative subject, the incumbent president\u2019s ne\u2019er-do-well son.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s not a new question because it\u2019s not a new story. Indeed, the reporting is only \u201cnew\u201d in the sense that people supposedly in the know are talking about things that have been known for years \u2014 certainly known to readers of the New York Post. <\/p>\n<p>Indeed, the mildly hilarious aspect of the report is that the Washington Post wants you to know that, in March 2022, it reported that a couple of \u201ccomputer security experts\u201d reviewed the thousands of emails \u201cpurportedly\u201d from Hunter\u2019s infamous laptop and \u201cfound they were authentic communications.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Unmentioned, natch, is that in October 2020, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2020\/10\/22\/us\/politics\/hunter-biden-laptop.html\">when the New York Post reported<\/a> on the laptop\u2019s patently authentic communications in final weeks of the presidential election campaign, the Washington Post joined the FBI, the intelligence community, and the rest of the media-Democrat complex in suppressing the laptop data on the risible, evidence-free claim that it was \u201cRussian disinformation.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/10\/hunter-biden-181-1.jpg\"><\/a><figcaption>The Post reported about Hunter Biden\u2019s infamous laptop in October 2020. <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>So how does the Hunter Biden investigation end? I\u2019m going to tell you what I\u2019ve told people for years. First, the fact that you\u2019re thinking of it as the \u201cHunter Biden investigation\u201d means it already has ended in the salient sense. In point of fact, Hunter is the least consequential Biden implicated, and what he gingerly called his \u201ctax matter\u201d when he was induced \u2014 only after the 2020 election, of course \u2014 to concede that he was under criminal investigation is the least consequential aspect of it.<\/p>\n<p>Second, and wholly consistent with that, it\u2019s going to end in politically choreographed theater in which the Biden administration tries to convince you that justice was done. And if they\u2019ve already got you thinking of this drama as <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2022\/10\/01\/jim-jordan-says-hunter-biden-probe-will-focus-on-2020\/\">the \u201cHunter Biden investigation,\u201d<\/a> why shouldn\u2019t they figure they can pull it off.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module alignright\">\n\t<\/aside>\n<p>I\u2019ll repeat the prediction I\u2019ve been making for a couple of years: With great fanfare, Hunter Biden will be allowed to plead guilty to a tax charge, with minimal if any time in custody \u2014 even if a false-statement charge is thrown in for good measure.<\/p>\n<p>Understand: In the scheme of things, this would be nothing. Hunter only acknowledged being under criminal investigation for tax offenses because everyone who was paying attention already knew that. There have been liens on his properties for years, and his ex-wife has been very public about his financial straits.<\/p>\n<p>As for the false-statement charge, that would be in connection with a notorious firearms offense. Hunter, who was bounced from naval service in 2013 over drug abuse, obtained a gun after representing on the required federal form that he was not a user of illegal narcotics. Not only did he have a well-known problem; by his own account (in his book), he was abusing cocaine at the time. Here\u2019s the only notable thing about that at this point: The false-statement offense appears to be a slam-dunk case. <\/p>\n<p>Why is that notable? Because it happened four years ago. If you lied on a federal firearms form, managed to acquire a gun by doing so, then failed to safeguard the gun, then were so careless you lost the gun, do you think you\u2019d still be walking around four years later without being charged? How about four weeks? I doubt it.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/10\/hunter-biden-180-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/hunter-biden-180-1.jpg\" alt=\"Bobulinski has recounted that he had face-to-face meetings with Joe Biden.\" class=\"wp-image-24157945\" width=\"618\" height=\"411\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/hunter-biden-180-1-1.jpg 1236w, https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/hunter-biden-180-1-2.jpg 927w, https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/hunter-biden-180-1-3.jpg 618w, https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/hunter-biden-180-1-4.jpg 309w, https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/hunter-biden-180-1-5.jpg 1024w\" \/><\/a><figcaption>Hunter was bounced from naval service in 2013 over drug abuse.<\/figcaption><figcaption><span class=\"credit\">AP<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module alignleft\">\n\t<\/aside>\n<p>So here is the theater I envision: The Justice Department will announce a guilty plea deal to trivial charges. Hunter will emote his deeply sincere contrition. President Biden will beat his chest and say, \u201cSee, I didn\u2019t interfere in any way whatsoever\u201d (I doubt he\u2019ll add \u201cjust like I never discussed my son\u2019s foreign business deals\u201d). And the Justice Department will convene the victory-lap press conference at which it congratulates itself for its courage and independence in prosecuting the president\u2019s son, without fear or favor.<\/p>\n<p>And then they\u2019ll hope the whole thing goes away. Case closed. The guilty plea settles all outstanding issues. Swept under the prosecutorial rug is any mention of the corruption and self-dealing in which the president himself is implicated.<\/p>\n<p>I won\u2019t go into chapter and verse \u2014 though I could, and Senators <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2022\/08\/29\/gop-senators-demand-facebook-hand-over-fbi-communication-on-hunter-biden\/\">Chuck Grassley (R., Iowa) and Ron Johnson<\/a> (R., Wisc.) already have in lengthy reports about the goo-gobs of foreign money that have gone into the Biden family coffers. I\u2019ll keep it to one transaction.<\/p>\n<p>The Biden family \u2014 not merely Hunter, the Biden family \u2014 received approximately $6 million in a transaction with CEFC, an apparent arm of the Chinese Communist government. There is documentary corroboration from the laptop that Joe Biden was supposed to get a significant slice (10% for the \u201cbig guy\u201d). <\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/10\/hunter-biden-176.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"682\" src=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/hunter-biden-176.jpg\" alt=\"Grassley has called for an investigation into Biden.\" class=\"wp-image-24157841\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/hunter-biden-176-1.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/hunter-biden-176-2.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/hunter-biden-176-2.jpg&amp;w=512 512w\" \/><\/a><figcaption>Sen. Chuck Grassley has lengthy reports about the foreign money that have gone into the Biden family coffers.<\/figcaption><figcaption><span class=\"credit\">AP<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Putting aside that the records are clearly authentic,<a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2022\/10\/04\/hunter-biden-defrauded-me-jim-biden-called-me-during-fbi-interview-ex-biz-partner\/\"> there is a corroborating witness:<\/a> Tony Bobulinski, a former naval intelligence officer and entrepreneur brought in by the Biden family and its inner circle to build the business structure. Bobulinski has recounted that <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2022\/10\/05\/ex-hunter-business-partner-tony-bobulinski-takes-on-the-biden-machine\/\">he had face-to-face meetings with Joe Biden<\/a> about the deal, and that Joe was deeply involved in Hunter\u2019s foreign business dealings. Of the $6 million haul, $1 million went to Hunter to act as a lawyer for Patrick Ho, who appears to have been under foreign counterintelligence surveillance, in addition to criminal investigation for foreign corrupt practices (he was ultimately convicted). Once Ho was exposed, the regime of Xi Jinping arrested the Bidens\u2019 main CEFC partner, Ye Jianming. He has never been seen in public again.<\/p>\n<p>What did the Chinese government believe they were getting by lavishing millions on the Bidens? Were any of the Bidens intercepted in the FBI\u2019s national-security monitoring of CEFC? If Joe Biden weren\u2019t president and had to apply for a security clearance like other executive branch officials, could he qualify? Do you suppose the Justice Department\u2019s very aggressive I\u2019m sure, no fear or favor investigation is going to answer those and other pertinent questions?<\/p>\n<p>But let\u2019s not worry our pretty little heads about such things. After all, it\u2019s just Hunter\u2019s \u201ctax matter,\u201d right?<\/p>\n<p><em>Andrew C.
