OEA urges our lawmakers to tackle the systemic issues contributing to our state\u2019s teacher recruitment and retention crisis \u2013 many of which are discussed in the OEA <a data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/www.ohea.org\/cms\/assets\/uploads\/2022\/09\/PM202209-06_OEA-Educator-Voice-Academy-Cadre_1.pdf&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1665150512578000&amp;usg=AOvVaw2dbrFo5ZdVcLF9Zh79E4p4\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ohea.org\/cms\/assets\/uploads\/2022\/09\/PM202209-06_OEA-Educator-Voice-Academy-Cadre_1.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Educator Voice Academy cadre\u2019s recent recommendations<\/a> \u2013 to ensure all Ohio students can receive the world-class education they deserve.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Veterans would also have to have a letter from a former commanding officer that says the individual is qualified to teach; have earned a master training specialist certification; served as a training officer or lead instructor; served as a noncommissioned officer, warrant officer or senior enlisted person; or demonstrated a mastery of a subject area to be taught determined by the school board.<\/p>\n<p>School boards would all assign a mentor teacher to the veterans, and the mentor would be required to hold a teacher\u2019s license obtain through regular methods.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ohiohouse.gov\/legislation\/134\/sb361\/committee\">House Bill 361<\/a> was introduced by Rep.
