A spokesperson for Google said the map violated their policies on \u201charassment.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Alix Aharon, the creator of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gendermapper.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Gender Mapping Project<\/a>, which was created using the Google Maps \u201cMy Maps\u201d feature, which allows users to create custom maps, said she noticed it was deactivated on Friday, September 30. Aharon shared a <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/laraalix\/status\/1575831878078038017\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">notice<\/a> she received to Twitter from Google that said her map violated their \u201cHarrassment, Bullying and Threats policy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Aharon is a founding member of Partners for Ethical Care, a \u201cmother-led movement to educate the world about gender ideology and protect children,\u201d Aharon told The Daily Wire. She is also on the Board of the Women\u2019s Liberation Front (WoLF), a legal network and advocacy group that aims to protect the rights of women.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey don\u2019t want people to know how many gender clinics exist. They don\u2019t want people to know there\u2019s hundreds,\u201d said Aharon, who claimed she and her colleagues have called over 500 pediatric gender clinics to confirm their existence before placing them on the map.<\/p>\n<p>A trans-identified biological male named Erin Reed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/maps\/d\/u\/0\/viewer?mid=1DxyOTw8dI8n96BHFF2JVUMK7bXsRKtzA&amp;hl=en_US&amp;ll=21.93350789191193%2C-109.09443705000001&amp;z=2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">created a map<\/a> in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.them.us\/story\/informed-consent-hrt-map-trans-healthcare\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2019<\/a> to help people find clinics that prescribe cross-sex hormones, which inspired Aharon to create her own in 2021. While both maps track gender clinics across the country containing virtually the same data points, only Reed\u2019s map was permitted to remain visible on Google.<\/p>\n<p>Last month, new attention was brought to the Gender Mapping Project by activist and trans-identifying biological male Alejandra Carabello, calling for its removal.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve held back publicizing this but Google has failed to act and is actively putting people in harms way,\u201d Carabello <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Esqueer_\/status\/1574053263904759809?s=20&amp;t=oV4ZyOuup-G4Ho6387XKxA\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">tweeted<\/a> on September 25. \u201cAnti trans activists have created a map of LGBTQ community centers, gender affirming care clinics, and non profit orgs. This is a page out of the anti abortion playbook.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This prompted far-Left online publications <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lgbtqnation.com\/2022\/10\/trans-woman-made-map-affirming-clinics-hateful-people-turned-hit-list\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">LGBTQ Nation<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.them.us\/story\/google-takes-down-gender-mapping-project-trans-healthcare-provider-map\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Them<\/a> to write articles suggesting that users of the Google map might be motivated to \u201cintimidate, harass, or commit violence against\u201d the providers of gender-related treatments on minors.<\/p>\n<p>Aharon said that activists have repeatedly tried to pressure Google to take her map down. \u201cThey\u2019ve done these attacks in the past, they\u2019ve attempted to have it taken down for years,\u201d she said, adding, \u201cIt does appear that Google did try to hold out at first, but they eventually gave in.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAfter reviewing this map, we\u2019ve found it to be in violation of our policies and have removed it from My Maps,\u201d a Google spokesperson told The Daily Wire. \u201cWe have clear <a href=\"https:\/\/support.google.com\/mymaps\/answer\/6328547\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">policies<\/a> that prohibit the use of My Maps for harassment, and when we find content and determine that it violates these policies, we remove it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI didn\u2019t have a chance to even put my case forward,\u201d Aharon told The Daily Wire.
