BROWN\/AFP via Getty Images)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>OAN Newsroom<br \/>UPDATED 4:54 PM PT \u2013 Friday, October 7, 2022<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A group of Republican Senators are warning parents and guardians about the dangers of Rainbow Fentanyl.<\/p>\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1663871513696-art-1\">\n<\/div>\n<p>13 GOP Senators, led by Senator Roger Marshall (R-Kan), released a <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.marshall.senate.gov\/newsroom\/press-releases\/gop-senators-release-psa-warning-about-dangers-of-rainbow-fentanyl-ahead-of-halloween\/\" target=\"_blank\">public service announcement<\/a> on Thursday. There, they outlined measures parents can take in order to protect their children from the dangerous drug.<\/p>\n<p>The Senators are especially concerned as Halloween approaches.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><\/figure>\n<p>Their message comes after the Drug Enforcement Administration <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dea.gov\/press-releases\/2022\/08\/30\/dea-warns-brightly-colored-fentanyl-used-target-young-americans\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">announced<\/a> that drug cartels appear to be trying to sell fentanyl that is made to look like candy to children and young people.<\/p>\n<p>The Senators are also reminding parents and guardians to check their children\u2019s candy for any drugs, candies without wrappers and candy that looks suspiciously packaged.<\/p>\n<p>The CDC has reported that synthetic opioids, such as fentanyl, are the primary driver of overdose deaths in the United States.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Children go trick or treating on Halloween night in Monterey Park, California on October 31, 2019.
