In fact, this was the fewest number of jobs created this year. But what\u2019s not slowing down? Inflation,\u201d said the RNC Rapid Response Director Tommy Pigott\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gop.com\/rapid-response\/a-recession-and-a-pay-cut\/\">in a statement<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Inflation, as <a href=\"https:\/\/fred.stlouisfed.org\/series\/CPIAUCSL#0\">measured by<\/a> the headline Consumer Price Index (CPI) hit a recent peak of 9 percent year-over-year in June, before edging down to 8.5 percent in July and 8.3 percent in August.<\/p>\n<p>Core CPI, which <a href=\"https:\/\/fred.stlouisfed.org\/series\/CPILFESL#0\">strips out<\/a> food and energy and is seen as a measure of underlying <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/t-inflation\">inflation<\/a>, hit a recent peak of 6.4 percent in March. It fell steadily to 5.9 percent in July before picking up again to 6.3 percent in August, suggesting inflationary pressures were again building.<\/p>\n<p>Besides putting a cost-of-living squeeze on American households that hurts lower-income earners the most, inflation has also far outpaced nominal wage gains for the average worker, effectively giving them a pay cut.<\/p>\n<p> American Workers \u2018Really Struggling\u2019 <\/p>\n<p>A recent report from the Dallas Fed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/inflation-is-eroding-american-workers-wages-federal-reserve_4781322.html\">showed that<\/a> more than half of U.S. workers over the past year saw their real wages\u2014which are adjusted for inflation\u2014fall below zero.
