The court affirmed a 2021 ruling by a Texas district court.<\/p>\n<p>The DACA program provides administrative reliefs and deportation protection to immigrants who entered the United States unlawfully as children. Those in the program can apply for a driver\u2019s license, social security number and work permits, as opposed to a legal path of citizenship.<\/p>\n<p>The Texas ruling stated the program was a case of presidential authority overreach due to Congress not giving the executive branch the power to grant mass reprieves to \u201cDREAMers.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>To note, the court did not cancel the program for current recipients.
